Oh, and now MY SON wants to KIDNAP ME at 66 relations. Argh...

1. Gifts.
When I'm surrounded by someone and his allies who want one of my counties, and while I'm so small, this is not really an option because I need mercenaries and the gifts cost too much.

2. Release a prisoner occasionally.
If only I could get some. No, I'm not going to imprison my son. Especially when my character's opinion towards him is 100. No.

3. Elective succession can also be very helpful, and frankly it's the best succession system anyway, since you won't get stuck with asshats (unless you really get screwed by your vassals, but that's why I just horde voting titles).
I'm not going to switch right now, though, since I recall it damaging relations when you change succession laws.

Anyone else think Paradox's Crusader Kings II forum has got a bit whinny?

Just look at their first page:
"Cheats"
"Why won't my allies call me to war?"
"This game makes no sense"
"Is a more dynamic mercenary system needed?"
"What do I do in the mid/late game?"
"Is Iceland underpowered?"
"Isn't it too easy for a King of Sicily to get 2 titular kingdoms in his de iure?"
"Remove join Holy War please"

Damn, what a bunch of whinny pricks.  No offense if anybody reading this has created one of those threads, but seriously?

I should totally troll them by making a post entitled: "This game is too hard, please give me infinite gold."

"Why won't my allies call me to war?"
This is just a quick question. I don't see how this could be whining.

"This game makes no sense"
This one to me sounds like a very valid question: "Why is this game so demanding on my graphic card? The graphics aren't fancy at all. This makes no sense."

"What do I do in the mid/late game?"
I'm pretty sure he's just asking what he should do mid/late game because he's out of ideas. What's the problem with that?

"Is a more dynamic mercenary system needed?"
Glancing over the first post, it... just seems to be a regular suggestion for improvements. How is it whining?

"Is Iceland underpowered?"
This one is actually a fairly well written post asking a question, not stating a fact. I don't see anything wrong. He's wondering why Iceland has so low levies/population compared to other countries.

I quote: "So Norway has roughly 10 times more manpower and income at each time but Norway had historicly only about 4 times more people."

I'll admit, I didn't look at the topics.  I was more refering to the overall impact of the topic headings one after another.

Thanks for revealing the rationality of the topics, it does give me a bit more faith in the Paradox community.

Still:
"Remove join Holy War please"

I cringe whenever somebody asks for a feature to be removed, no matter how broken.  There was also someone that asked for assasinations to be removed, which I found quite upsetting.  I like spinning daggers of awesome!

I might also be a bit tired.

Face it man, there will always be people who complain about various things when they start getting frustrated by them. But by no means is it the majority of the community. Check the thread, absolutely nobody have said that they agree.

I also speculate that the feature requests are at an all-time-high now that an update is around the corner.  Now is the best time for players to get whatever features/fixes/tweaks/nurfs/whatever into the main game, at least that is how I imagine most players see it.

Thanks again for the touch of reality.

On a lighter note, the Muslim Expansion seems quite interesting, with new game mechanics that I believe would be hard to mod into the game!  It should be worth a few dollars to purchase.

My game has been... pretty interesting. There's still just under 300 years to go.
It's also been a bit rough. To say I've had to reload a few times to avoid certain death would be an understatement.
Playing a count of a single province alone isn't very easy, playing one that's also a heretic? Even worse.

I think I'm finally in a stable spot though, after much trying. After hopping to the Byzantines to avoid a title revoke, I still got attempted title revokes there. Those emperors met... untimely ends after trying it.
Finally the emperor title landed on someone who has no claim on any of my lands, and so far she seems to like me enough not to try it. Besides, I get an automatic 42% plot power against her if she tries anything funny. I'm sure a few of her vassals wouldn't mind her disappearing too, if it came to it...

Elsewhere in the world, the Spanish Reconquista failed utterly. Muslims held Spain for few decades, before the Reconquista was renewed... in the form of the HRE, and Sweden, of all countries.
Germans and Swedes now inhabit parts of Spain, and they've been steadily gaining ground. I fully expect to see the culture map of Spain be a mottled mix of Germans and Swedes at the end of the game.
Norway is also almost entirely not in Norway.

Ireland achieved! And then my founding monarch (Murchaid the Noble) promptly died from stress, leaving a 4-year old to inherit the throne, and his greedy spymaster grandmother as his regent. The bitch kept stealing gold from my treasury any time there's more than 20 gold, and I was powerless to stop her. Eventually there was some kind of power play going on offstage, and she was replaced by another courtier. Thought about throwing her in prison, but without clear justification, that could backfire bigtime on me. At least she can't steal any more.

Now I just have to worry about my sister, who has a claim on the Irish throne and keeps wanting to get married. I told her to go be a nun. She didn't take it well.

Oh, and history has an odd way of repeating itself. Even though England is now Norway South, Ulster still managed to fall under foreign domination, this time to a Norwegian vassal of the Scottish throne. I saved and DoW'd Scotland just to see how bad it would be. It's BAD. I can muster about 3700 troops in the realm, King Alfgar of Scotland can muster some 13000. And apparently the sea passage between Galloway and Ulster isn't blockadeable (Summoned up 140+ galleys, which did absolutely nothing to oppose the Scottish Army's crossing of the strait.)

Actually, is there sea combat? I was a little shocked that my galleys were useless. I was expecting it to be like EU3, where an unopposed fleet can block enemy amphibious movement in that zone.

England seems to change hands everytime the wind blows past it, as far as I've seen in my game.

Ships move troops around, and can't do anything else, even fight with each other. I do sort of wish that navies would have a little more functionality.

Ahahahah, the new pope in my game is a lunatic, a zealot, a cruel person, and slothful. His combined stats are 0/10/0/0/6. Wow, how the hell did he get to be the pope?
