Multiplayer and pre-designed scenarios in addition to random maps.

sounds fun but why the horrible graphics? I dont mean lack of shiny awesome graphics, but I mean the presence of crappy fonts and lame background images?

Coders shouldn't be allowed to design UIs...and artists, especially, shouldn't be allowed to.  That does look pretty terrible.

Um, this IS the Dwarf Fortress community, isn't it? :P

(I do understand that this sort of interface is actually worse than what DF gives us)

I can't believe I'm agreeing that the graphics are terrible, but here I am. Agreeing. The screenshots show me difficult-to-read text nestled into abrupt and overstated background images. I don't think I could play for long without a headache. And I enjoy ASCII games / ancient DOS games as much as the next Bay12'er.

It's like ... too much noise.  :-\

The interface looks like something out of a crappy flash game.

Im all for gameplay over graphics, but if you cant make good graphics, then use a simpler graphical style, like ASCII.

Yeah, that interface is really gross, I can't even make out half of the text in one of the screen shots.

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

I played a game. It's not particularly in-depth I'm afraid. :-\
Raiders are f*cking overpowered, too.

I didn't see any glaring faults with the layout.
The game was easily playable.

I think I'm going to have to agree with the unattractive UI. I played for a bit, I can see how it could be enjoyable but after a while I just couldn't stand the horrible, horrible UI.
