In an RTD, you focus on being an adventurer, often going on dangerous quests for fabulous treasure. A six-sided die determines effectiveness, from {1}, a critical failure, to {6}, a critical overshot.
This is not one of those RTDs.
Oh no. You have a much higher goal in mind then getting killed in some dark dungeon for a sword of +1 maiming. In this RTD, you seek the throne of the
Kingdom of Glory Vale, a fictional
kingdom set in a pseudo-medieval era. This is quite a lofty goal for a mere
village leader, but it's possible with a bit of luck. Nothing's stopping you from chasing after +1 axes of accuracy, or learning fun spells that summon torrents of cold water, of course.
Each
town governor is in charge of five
villages. A baron controls a
barony consisting of five
towns, and the progression continues with counts, dukes, and finally the king.
The strength of your holdings will be measured in
Military Strength and
Prosperity.
Military Strength is a general measure of current soldiers, their training, equipment, and morale.
Prosperity is a measure of your economy, which is mostly used as a measure of how much
Military Strength you can have, as well as how quickly it will increase.
To advance, you'll need to take land - either from other players, or from random NPCs. They may or may not care about your belligerent actions, depending on what the dice think. The geography in Glory Vale is non-Euclidean, allowing other players to be attacked at any time.
