Rule the Cities RTD, Turn 8
« on: August 19, 2010, 12:41:09 am »

The game has been completely revised. There are now 2 governors, and 8 heroes. Each governor gets 4 heroes. This should be a bit like a more in-depth Majesty, with the ability for the governors to adventure as well.

Ruler name: Kref
Ruler's single 'best' skill: lying.
How the ruler came into power:In attempt to cheat local farmers out of some money, he faked a minor miracle by previously unheard of deity Darrakan. Village louts were so inspired by miracle that they all immediately converted to Darrakanianism and installed Kref as their High Priest and leader.
Why the ruler wants even more power: Greed.
Future plans, after the kingdom has been conquered:Try out all niceties of royal life for some time, then flee to faraway lands with most precious and compact part of Royal Treasury.
Faction name: Cult of Darrakan.
Faction description:gullible peasants, united by belief in Darrakan. Religion of Darrakan requires of it's followers full obedience to superiors and promises fabulous happiness in afterlife.
Treasonous offenses, and reasons for committing treason: Kref kept himself clear of politics until that day.
Misc: professional conman and card cheat. Greedy, but values his own well-being most of all.

Let's try this.

Ruler name: Pendim Hyrdar
Ruler's single 'best' skill: Fire magic
How the ruler came into power: He has demonstrated his power to key people showing how it could make everyone's lifes easier.
Why the ruler wants even more power: Because power is access to more knowledge. Especially secret and forbidden knowledge.
Future plans, after the kingdom has been conquered: Ascension to divinity, of course. What other goal would someone have?
Faction name: Golden Alliance
Faction description: Villagers with a number of mages, and lesser conjured creatures that are supposed to take the brunt of battle. The conjured creatures should hopefully be stronger and more plentiful in the future.
Treasonous offenses, and reasons for committing treason: Has secretly experimented with life-prolonging magic.
Any miscellaneous details that do not fit in with the above: Likes to wear bright white clothes and golden jewelry. He works hard to not have fire magic be his only magic skill, realizing the folly of overspecialization.

Ruler name:Khan
Ruler's single 'best' skill:Rallying
How the ruler came into power:A lowly bandit, who upon murdering the former village leader in a petty bar fight, found that the people had been over-taxed and tortured by him on a regular basis, and voted him into the 'now empty' position.
Why the ruler wants even more power:As a bandit, he always answered to the leaders of his group, yet the slight taste of power he got when elected was better then the feel of flesh slicing on his blade, or a chest of unguarded gold, and thus he resolved to one day overthrow the king and become the most powerful man in the kingdom.
Future plans, after the kingdom has been conquered:To unit the local bandits, villagers and wildmen under his banner and start a conquest of war to bring the wealth of the world under his grasp.
Faction name:The Red Wave
Faction description:Having learned from the tactics of bandits, the faction relies on hunting, thievery, and gorilla tactics to live.  There isn't a single member of the group who doesn't have some skill with weapons, though the army-men fight more like outlaws, using hit-and-run maneuvers and sabotage to their advantage.  They poach from other lands for food, and press captured people who are unwilling to fight for them into farming the fields to provide a steady source of food.  Laws have altogether been forgotten in the faction and fights are encouraged to settle disputes, since the man who still stands must be right in his argument.
Treasonous offenses, and reasons for committing treason:Poaching from the kings land for food and pelts.  Stealing the kings gold from his tax men to buy new equipment and goods.  Murdering those under the kings pay where they are corrupted, or it benefits the faction.
Any miscellaneous details that do not fit in with the above:

Ruler name: Shalad of Cellaria
Ruler's single 'best' skill: Learning and studying.
How the ruler came into power: After an incident with some soldiers and some collectibles, the other people in his village thought it best to give him some power, lest it happens again.
Why the ruler wants even more power: The more power, the more toys, the less people shoving you around.
Future plans, after the kingdom has been conquered: To build a pocket world for himself and his stuff so that he gets to finally have his peace, alone.
Faction name: Coalition of Socks
Faction description: Really mostly led by its chancellors and ministers. The leader is not always reliable. Army consists of a militia. Everyone is required to train with his weapon of choice one day of the week.
Treasonous offenses, and reasons for committing treason: Telling royal representatives to shove it in the collectibles incident. It is treason to touch them.
Any miscellaneous details that do not fit in with the above: Collectibles fetish - collects little figurines, dwarven battle-groceries, exotic swords, interesting pieces of stone, books, and anything remotely magical. OCD. Tends to communicate poorly.

Huh

On the other hand, since he hasn't actually posted the rules/ how to play (unless it's just "attack x", which I doubt), it's possible he could revise his decisions before the first turn.

Also, I need to stop taking so long to post.  :P

When I wrote the first post at 2:00 AM, I felt that it explained how to play perfectly well. Heh.

You are the person in charge of a village. You can do pretty much whatever you could do in a standard semi-serious RTD, with the added ability to rule your lands while you're there. The stats of your holdings may increase or decrease on their own each turn. Suggested actions include: Send your troops off to attack a neighboring village while you study magic, lead your troops in a caravan raid, build a well, drill your troops, or go look for a cave with a magic spear, bringing some troops for backup. Be creative.

Sign-ups are indeed closed, sorry.
