They should really take another run at spore. Or, they could even just release the version that he had at that tech demo

They can't. As Will and Water explained they wanted to do that... but it was actually impossible (at least with the tech they had then... it may be possible now I guess...)

While Will is gone I'd bet money he would run back for one game if they said "Hey, we are making Spore the way you wanted now for real this time".

Yeah Dust was never dishonest, though I admit even I thought it would be cheaper, it always glossed over gameplay and never gave an impression that it had gameplay better then "ehhh".

I played it on the Xbox, it really could benift from more powers, more sandbox options and everything.
an entire sandbox mode would be nice.

Perhaps for the PC version someone will mod in a simple empty level where you can generate the elements in whatever abundance you wish and you're free to build.

I believe you get a sandbox mode at the end of the game?

I'm sure I read a review stating that.

It was "The level turns into a sandbox mode after you finish it", I think.

Yeah, after you complete your objectives, you don't have to tell your men to travel through the victory gate. You can stick around for as long as you want to, there's no time limit or anything. There's bonus levels awarded if you spread vegetation all around the level, encouraging this sort of play.

And even if you go through the gate you can go back to any level you've beaten and start it right before the men entered the gate. I guess it's ok for sandbox, but I really wish after beating the level they gave us all the powers to use on the island, at least that's what I expected the "sandbox mode" to be.

So once you've finished the game you can go back to any level with the powers you have now?

I'd love a sandbox mode with a great deal of levels and freedom to play on, from a blank slate to really cool levels.
ALSO, the ability to delete freaking volcanos, jesus that made me mad that I accidently made one and it never went away.

No, you can go back to play the level where you left off, but you'll only be able to use whichever powers you had during that level.

That's kinda lame.  I guess the real sandbox is the last level then.

I quite liked the last level, since suddenly being given all this power over the landscape lead to me almost accidentally destroying the tribe more than once, in several ways. Sort of an unintended aesop about power, I suppose.
