If it's such a success, why are they removing it from one of their latest games?

So uh....

This Gamespy article says From Dust will have the always-on DRM. The exact opposite of what RPS says. RPS attributes their claim, while Gamespy does not.

From RPS' source, who asked Ubisoft:

Just a thought, but how does needing internet to play a game reduce the ability to pirate the game in any way?

Presumably, it will work like Steam, in that only one person per account online at any one time.

It doesn't. Steam DRM also doesn't work at all.

What it does, however, is keeping you from trading or giving your old games to friends. And that's all DRM is for. It's not against piracy, it's against giving and second hand sale.

Their fabled DRM was cracked a long time ago i really don't see a reason for keeping it now, the crackers have learned how to work around it when the first games featuring it came out so this is only working to annoy people now and nothing else.

That said this seems like a slight letdown in terms of gameplay but i still reamin hopefull that someone with some imagination will pick up the engine and make something amazing :D

For $10 I think peoples hopes were a bit too high. the playthroughs I've watched all look like it's a fun experience especially at that pricepoint.

This is a $20 title? People in this thread have been claiming this is the second coming of video gaming. ;)

Whether or not it is, any good news in that sense will be drowned out by the DRM and Ubi the derp at this rate.

As long as there is no online content, I can fully enjoy the game by buying it at the store and getting a crack off the internet.

I think it looks boring to be honest. The engine is amazing, with the terrainz and the things and the whatsits but the gameplay looks like they just gave up after workigng out all the physics stuff with the terrain.

not gonna get it until its $5 on Steam and if it never makes it there, I dont care so much.

Why even bother getting a crack? It's not internet only DRM this time.

No DRM works better than with DRM, except possibly in Steam's case.

I'm about 3/4ths of the way through it at this point, and I think it was a worthwhile purchase for 12$. I wasn't ever really going into this expecting a Populace or Black & White remake, and I think that's the issue most of the people who play this are having: They want From Dust to be a game that it isn't, and for that they hate it.
