Problem is, it doesnt look that fun, it just looks amazing to play with the land forms. From what I can see, the gameplay seems to be some sort of puzzle like situation where you gotta get your tribe from A to B using the tools you have available to shape land or water or whatever. That might be just one mode and theres more to see, but with the price they are offering, I wont keep my hopes up for anything nearly as deep as Populous of B&W.

Yeah it looks like they are trying to sell the engine more than the game itself.

I hope it offers some depth and actual interaction with the people beyond shaping the land...cause that will get old fast

I'll buy this game despite DRM, simply because it looks to be a brilliant game. I've been frustrated with Spore once in a while, but otherwise I rarely see any issues with DRM. Mind you, I haven't tried too many of Ubisoft's games on the PC, so this might be particularly painful for me.

If I'm reading that right, you have a console.  Why not buy it on that and avoid the DRM?

I have the 360, but even if it were on there I far prefer my PC nowadays. The Assassin's Creed games are better on a console however, because that style of game just suits a gamepad.

Then again, PC triumphs because I can plug in a gamepad...

Meh, I like my PC and consoles are getting old for me.

Well I suppose I meant it COULD get old fast depending on how its presented and the person involved and by fast I mean a month or so of play (not like...same day)

if every mission is simply "build an island" then it wont be exciting for most to actually go through the whole game.

Also don't like games where every level is just a new tutorial and on the last level you unlock the last thing and get disappointed when you cant use it beyond that one mission

Every mission is not simply build an island. Just read some of the reviews.

There's stuff like tsunamis that you have to block by filling the crags in mountains with lava so it builds a wall etc.

From the reviews and videos I've seen, it isn't a static world in the least.  Every map is ad ifferent island, and there's always different stuff going on.  According to the official website, it isn't just the earth, water, and lava you have to control, either.  Fires can outbreak; and there are several different types of specialized plants, all bunch of stuff.

That, and the simulator itself.  It isn't just confined to an area around the player and his tribe, the entire island is always evolving, and everything you do shifts what the island does. Creating a damn can cause a lake to form until the dam gives; or blocking a valcanic vent will cause another one to open up somewhere else.  Digging into the soil can find 'sources', which are an ever-flowing spring of water that can suddenly pop up if you aren't careful.  Playing the same map over and over and over again and it will never feel or even look the same.  That's what I think is cool.

I just hope that in the "sandbox" mode they mentioned that you get after beating an island, killing the villagers won't result in failure and that they can recover from it.

It'll be like Black and white All Over Again. Except with making artificial geysers and the like :D

Or , if the simulation is realistic, you could make gorges from rivers and waterfall caves :D

That would be cool, but I'm not sure whether the engine actually supports overhangs and such.

Delayed until August for PC. Probably a hitch in the DRM. I wonder how many legit copies made computers implode at the Ubi office?

Oh well. XBLA can be the testbed to let us PC gamers know what to buy.

Three weeks delayed because the POS DRM is causing problems, probably.

What's a few days to a week worth of time?
Impatient much?

Time is the lifeblood of the universe.
Delaying a game because of shitty DRM which will do nothing but make piracy more desirable is the worst kind of delaying.

Its not a week, look it up.
August 17th is nearly a month off the actual release date, and there better be a dang better PC version because of it. Otherwise its just wasting everybody's time for the consoles' sake.
