Looks incredible. Kind of reminds me of Sim City 4's god mode in the beginning.

Oblivion probably has the worst Lava of all time. (Tied with Quake)

For Xbox, will it be Xbox Arcade or a game on disc?

Was hoping this wasn't going to be a lightweight game. Signs are definitely pointing to it being a potential licensing cash cow. This is my disappointed face. Still, I'll see what it's like when it releases.

While the game looks very good, I can't actually see myself paying for this on a console. PC is where it's at.

I share you fears. ill probably buy it anyway, but i cant help but feel it will even be a worst dissapointment than black and white 2 was.

I'm sincerely hoping that the next / a future feature demo ends up being something that absolutely blows us away with gameplay the way this did with the basic engine. Can you imagine? I would die from the orgasms/hemorrhages.

"So here's the game being sped up to iterate a hundred generations of Tribespeople, modeling the genetic system...."

"So you see here that there's an enemy tribe attempting to invade. However, we've constructed an area between us that will collapse when their march erodes the soil, trapping them in a pit then pouring magma onto them...."

But it’s worth pointing out that natural disasters aren’t necessarily a bad thing in From Dust. That tsunami that nearly wiped out an entire village would prove useful against a massive fire that might appear later in the game. Similarly, animals you come across in the game might prove useful to the villagers, but then again, they might start attacking them too.

Sounds pretty interesting.

EDIT:  Newer review tells us a little more about gameplay.

2.EDIT:  A better review.

I hope it comes out as good as it looks.  Forging your way to a spot in the middle of the ocean sounds fun, but I'm sure there's only so much you can play Sand Castle with before it gets boring - We'll see how the rest of the game play comes along, if there is anything else.  Even Populous and Black and White had more than just being all powerful.

I'll second the dragging your kids to the beach comment, though.  I just need to make some beaches around where I live...

Eh, I said that about Minecraft.  This game might be another "grows on you".

Kinda depends. In minecraft you can make a sand castle in the shape of various things. but in this you wont get anything but piles of mud & sand so after you've created your paradise isle there isnt much left to do.

Recreate the Grand Canyon, Mordor, Niagara Falls, Easter Island etc?

EDIT: And make a hellish island of suffering.
