It's getting released on PC, but Ubi is being sketchy on the exact details.
They're probably trying to sneak DRM into tthe PC version, then. (I don't trust Ubi much after the ACII crapola.) /pessimist

THIS GAME LOOKS AWESOME!

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

I'm uncertain of what to feel.  On the one hand, this is precisely the kind of god-power, dynamic-adaptive-environment, insignificant-humanoids, incredibly-vast-freedom-and-awesomeness game that I would simply love to sink my hands deep into and never come back from.

Unfortunately, it's also the kind of game that looks just good enough to be completely F*ed up before release.  I'll keep my hat on until I see this thing blossom.

This game looks like exactly what black and white 1/2 promised but failed to deliver

Sure, this is what they all look like before release. Black & White, Spore, you name it.

They'll fuck it up. They always do. I'll not be fooled a third time.

Eh, I'll be excited now.  Spore didn't hurt, my excitement eroded as the stuff they cut out/couldn't implement became more apparent so I didn't even realize it was out for like a week.

I love B&W, it was from before I paid attention to games before they were out, so I didn't know what I was missing.

As long as they give us COMPLETE control it could be awesome, I don't want a magma amount, I will drown the world in mamgma if I feel like it!

they can't make a game like this without a sandbox mode.

at least, that is what i hope.

I dunno, absolute power in games like this gets boring fast.  Also, the trailer clearly says you can't control the world, just influence it.

well, of course you can't have ABSOLUTE power in campaign /main story/normal gameplay. you need challenges.

But i would be VERY disappointed if there wasn't a sandbox mode. VERY!

The concept is absolutely brilliant and the engine looks incredible. I really really want this, I just hope they don't mess it up before it comes out. 2011 is a long time from now.

Stuff like this make me really skeptical (or cynical).  It basically looks like a really nice "toy" or tech demo, but how much of this amazing stuff will get cut out once they have to turn it into a real "game" and their publisher has to mass market it to the most common denominator?

I can tell you right now that what they've got to show won't work for a real game system.  What would be the point if you could blow your enemy up in an instant with a volcano or tsunami?  They've shown how the world works, but they have not shown how your civ's buildings and units will actually interact with it and if it will make any sense.  I'm sure heavy restrictions will be put in place and the events will be scaled down greatly by the time it releases.

In fact, it reminds me a lot of early videos of Spore.  It was cutting edge amazing stuff, but when all was said and done, it just didn't jive with real game mechanics that well.

Something about it looks far too much like Black and White, but in a bad copied sort of way.  A more malleable environment isn't going to be enough to sell me for Black and White 3.  Now if it was touted as the spiritual successor to Sim Earth 2, with an evolutionary life cycle system, then I'd be much more excited.
