And say good-bye to your FPS if you do that. Alternately, once the devils have started running amok among the populace, abandon and then go back there with an adventurer. Fight through hell itself!

You should unleash the FUN on them. Because the only thing worse than the impending doom of losing their war is having FUN show up in their last town due to some jerkass genius dwarven enginering.
Well there's an aquifer, so I don't really have the patience for magma or clown cars.  Instead, I'm just digging out all 3 soil layers beneath them and I'm going to collapse the whole thing into the aquifer.  I hope the humans are good swimmers.

:edit: actually, on closer examination of the map, it looks like the humans have already done the hard work of aquifer piercing for me.  I may have to dig into the party room.

Posting to watch what sort of Fun you guys make happen to this town. ;)

I was curious and exported world info from the save, here is what I got:
Quote
540: Boshkuckopka, "Cruxcusp", a town
   2136 humans
   1 dwarf
Notice it doesn't specify any civ, also retiring adventurer gave an option to "Give in to starvation" instead of retiring. The dwarf mentioned in info is not the adventurer I just retired since legends mention his death to starvation, so it must another one.

By the way there is another interesting location I found by chance:
Quote
392: Bemxal, "Werebowls", a dark fortress
   Owner: The Moist League, humans
Parent Civ: The Sensitive Unions, humans
   administrator: Mita Redglee, human
   1944 humans
No idea if they are in any way related except of high populations.

Oh wow, I'll just have to grab that save when I get home. That sounds amazing.

Time to try that "randomly spawn some magma" hack...

A look at the legends reveals a history filled with many wars and battles, with of armies thousands strong consisting of humans and many "unknown creatures". Its hard to tell who was winning or losing, though, since historical figures were culled and the numbers of casualties are not recorded.

The resulting party killed 20 dwarves, crippled 2 more and the remaining 9 managed to get along and have a nice party.

...Thousands of humans, many creatures of the unknown.

Is it possible that those guys tamed/enslaved the HFS, and went for world dominance using their newfound, infinite power? An empire on which the sun never sets would certainly have enough excess materials to let almost two thousand semi-useless peasants just sit there and eat from the imperial food stockpile.

I downloaded the save but can't seem to locate the right place in fortress mode. Can anyone point it out on the world map?

Embark around them, build a wall and some defenses, and save the last humans on earth. :D

Wall them in, dig down to the HFS, and watch the bloodbath.

Wall them in, dig down to the HFS, and watch the bloodbath.
Working on it, a forgotten beast already got about 10 of them before being overwhelmed.

Did it have a nasty syndrome, like necrotic blood? That should cause megadeath in the space of a few months.

Oh, if only you could still do the thermo-nuclear explosion. That would be so fucking epic!
