Where would you be without Dwarf Fortress
« on: August 18, 2010, 04:07:49 pm »

Just as the title forebodes, where would you be if Dwarf fortress didn't exist?

Me, I'd be playing world of warcraft, as a ELF (god forbid) and I wouldn't actually see the error of my ways.

Thank you Toady, for showing me the truth.

I'd have seen the real ending of KoTOR2.

...Yeah, I'm not doing much with my life.

Well if you remove the [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE] tag from dwarves I think they have like 2-4 children each time they give birth. And if you get enough mothers up on the pillars you can probably get a good waterfall going.
Ashes are technically fire-safe.

As the past several months have illustrated to me, working 12 hours a day, apparently.

I would be playing a game for a few weeks, then falling out of love with it, just to switch to another game.

As I was doing before I started this dwarven venture.

Now I play a fortress for a few days, fall out of love with it, just to switch to another fortress.

On a different forum, playing different games, with far less hope for the future of video games, and terrible art skills(compared to the fairly bad ones I have now, as DF brought me to these forums, in turn inspiring me to make an avatar, and *that* looking ugly, so slowly upgrading it...). And I wouldn't have nearly as much to od when I cannot access the internet.

I'd be a CEO of some large company, ordering people around and making heaps of money.
In my remaining time, I'd be the leader of an indie-pop band, with devoted fans, and surrounded by a harem of vulputous groupies.
Lucky I found DF.

Er, playing Transformice more. Removing one geeky habit will just mean I do another one more.

It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.
