merchants linger, immigration stopped
« on: September 09, 2007, 01:30:00 pm »

After a goblin invasion occurred right during a merchant visit (they've been doing that like clockwork the last couple of years) the (dwarf) merchants remained in the fortress. As a result, I haven't gotten any immigrants for several years and my fortress is down from 80 to 40 dwarves.

I've taken to locating the merchants, teleporting them to the outside, and making a lava flow under them. Not sure if it will help, but it's good for venting frustration.

Could be Bug 239?  "merchants refuse to leave once they are startled by attackers"

Did the gobs get a chance to irritate them?

I don't remember since it was so long ago, but since it happened in connection with a gobbo attack that's probably it.

Well, we'll see if my drowning them in lava will improve the situation, or my fortress is pretty dead. I seem doomed never to get to the economy bit...

Well, the new version's coming up soon anyway, so I wouldn't have been playing that fortress long anyway.
