fine. The giant Sandworm at the end of the second Dune book by Frank Herbert, the one that was the biggest any Fremen had ever seen. (500 meters.)

One- Aren't they all kilometers long?

Two- A link, or 'Sandworm from dune' is good.

It's just so I don't have to look around for people who say Ulskngoepa'eth.

I stand corrected. The ones in the 'inhabitable' desert get to 500m. The largest one recorded is one from the Deep Desert, at 2800m. (The one Paul rode.) I submit that one.

I was about to say, I see a longer worm than 500m every day.
In my pants.
2800m though, that'd be just silly.
I mean, unless we're talking *erect*.

No, see, 'm' stands for meters, not millimeters. Zing!

(In fairness, a 2800mm trouser worm is pretty damn huge. That's some Peter North shit right there.)

EDIT: Hell, I just did the math. You, sir, have a pants-worm nearly twice as tall as an average human adult male.)

Well yes, nice of you to notice.  But I made my jest with an understanding that we were using meters (:  I am passingly familiar with Dune, after all.
As your math shows, it hardly matters though.

It does. A 2800m trouser worm would weigh enough to kill someone if dropped off a skyscraper in a Rapunzel-like fashion. The only way you're Rapunzel-ing with a 2800mm worm is if you live on the first floor.

Either one would instantly kill you upon becoming erect, of course.

Not if you have extra blood on hand! Although, having said extra blood in normal circumstances would also be fatal, as more than one athlete has found out.

Can't a man just joke about pleasuring women across town from the comfort of his home?!

Well, I'm sure Mr. Fantastic can, but you'd have to have a pretty flexible schlong to pleasure a woman across town with it.
Now maybe if they lived upstairs...

"Just who the hell do you think I am?"
If I'm stuck in a tower I'm not using my purring maggot as rope.  2.8meters isn't nearly long enough to be useful anyway.
I'd use my beard of course.

2800m is 2km, 800m.

As in, you could probably hook up a whole damn pulley system with it.
