DF Sighting in Real Life?
« on: August 17, 2010, 10:25:17 pm »

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2010/08/17/bc-marijuana-grow-op-bears.html

Maybe I've been working too hard.  Maybe I've been gaming too hard.  Maybe I'm a little sun-baked in the head.  But when I hear a story about a pot field being guarded by almost a dozen BEARS, I see Dwarf Fortress.  I don't know the name of the lady involved thanks to pending legal troubles, but I've got 5db riding on "Urist".

Nah, DF would have elephants or the like guarding it.

Well if you remove the [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE] tag from dwarves I think they have like 2-4 children each time they give birth. And if you get enough mothers up on the pillars you can probably get a good waterfall going.

Elephants and a magma moat.

Belgium fights against catsplosion (no slaughter or drawbridges involved).

I note that the cat population is an order of magnitude less than the human population. Surely that human overpopulation is a more serious problem, and more directly warrants mass sterilization?

The bears will have to be destroyed because they aren't likely to hurt people?
LAME.

If dwarves decided to live in trees like hippies, they'd still do it better than the elves.

Nice, thats my province.
I was expecting the bears to be strategically restrained by rope or chains around the perimeter. I guess letting them run unrestrained has benefits. Also I suppose setting traps would prove counter-productive in this case.

Aww, poor bears. :( But yeah, it would be elephants if it was real Dwarf Fortress. Elephants and mandrills. Lots and lots of mandrills.
