No install limitations.

The only types of DRM with install count limitations are:
1) Spore
2) ...
3) Okay, just Spore
4) Who cares, Spore sucks

Seriously.  That is NOT a concern that you should have.  SecuROM is purely a "verify that this disk is, in fact, a real disk, and not emulated" thing...nothing more.

There were a lot of games with bad DRM and CD checks which install themselves as drivers and do not go away... I've spent about 3 days removing those alltogether a year or two ago (yeah I am a crazy person, I don't reinstall windows but rather manually clean it :D).

I haven't got an issue with DRM during the last 3 years because I've bought the games without DRM or on Steam, and pirated everything else. So I don't really know how bad it can be NOW. But back then it was crazy.

I think I have that exact version of AC, and I don't remember seeing anything to do with installation limitations or anything to do with DRM at all, though I've only installed it once. So it should be fine.

That's encouraging.  I contacted tech Support and they didn't understand my question, so maybe you're right.

I've heard of of others too.   But, yeah, Spore is kinda the posterchild for that.  Maybe they learded their lesson from the bad press?

hey it can't be illegal he owns a real copy of the game.
You are not allowed to modify licensed software in any shape or form without express consent of the rights holder. If they had a lawyer who was asinine enough about it, they cold sue you for dragging around the desktop icon.

US software laws 101:
You are a criminal unless you have the money to change laws.

Well, you've bought the game already.

If you don't want to deal with the DRM, or having to keep the disc in (I know I sure wouldn't), go download a copy off a torrent somewhere. Go ahead and get the linux version, too. :P

Seriously. Don't worry about the laws here, they're not that idiotic, unless you're american.
