Well.  Some medieval-level town.  Surely there will be a quest waiting for us in the inn?

Actually, the bold font doesn`t mean anything. I guess you could find a job anywhere. And no, the town isn`t quite medieval yet.  ;)

You really can both sig it.
But... That would break the laws of sigging! We can't have everyone running around with the same quotes. IT MAKES THEM UNFUNNY FASTER!

ask my animal freinds to carefully gather  some scrap metal off the ground outside the compound. when they come back, ask mundok if he could make some kind of laser or dart shooter for me. gather twigs if only a dart shooter can be made, and then ask if he's gotten a job from an locals yet.

The Innkeeper happily welcomes you. Elated to finally have a guest from outside the town again he offers you (and your comrades.) a meal and a bed for free- Naturally you agree. The meal is rather sparse, since food is scarce, but by adding some of your own provisions you manage to get a decent meal.

You sleep the rest of the night and wake at first light.

Go talk to the elder and try to get a feel for the political situation in the general region.

The Village elder welcomes you as an honored guest. During the course of the evening he doesn`t only provide you with a filling meal, but also with some valuable informations.

Apparently the city of Bayden is independent. Thirty years ago they were ruled by a king, a cruel and mean ruler. Together with some other towns They rebelled and were able to overthrow him.

Since then Bayden and the villages Rurot and Etyl to the north enjoyed their independence and grew wealthy. Bayden was especially important since here the Merchants of the glass desert had to pass through in order to get to Rurot and Etyl. The Forest also provided Bayden with food and furs.

However, some months ago, bandits appeared and started to terrorize Bayden. They attacked every merchant and traveller passing through; Even those with sizable escorts.

All soldiers sent into the woods to drive them out perished- Until there weren`t enough soldiers left to attempt it again. Since then there had been no trade between Bayden and the other cities anymore.

Because the bandits make hunting impossible food is scarce and rationed. As a result his people slowly lose their will to fight on and the situation is pretty desperate.

Bayden is traditionally "ruled" by the oldest man in town. The merchant and the Hunters guild also had much influence in the past; But now they are in fact the poorest people in town.
The high priest of Kiratad, the god of the wood, is the second most influential guy in town. But his influence is slowly fading since his god, despite many prayers, wasn`t able to help them yet.

He also talks about a "wizard" living in the east. He doesn`t know much about him, just that some of his followers used to buy goods here from time to time. But since the bandits live in the woods they haven`t visited Bayden again.

After a long talk he invites you to sleep in his house tonight and you happily agree.

Search the unsavoury parts of town, looking for information and work

You head to the poorest part of the town: The upper class district.

Apparently the once wealthy merchants and hunters lost everything when the bandits appeared. The hunters are able to provide you with much information about the surroundings.

They firmly believe that a dragon lives in the western part of the forest. He attacks his victims from below and roasts them with his hell fire.

The forest around Bayden is home not only to the dragon and the bandits but also to wolves and bears- They used to hunt them.
According to rumors there's an ancient wizard tower somewhere in the forest, but no one ever dared to go near it.

The Hunters tell you that there is only one real way to help them: By eliminating the bandits.

The merchants aren`t able to provide you with useful informations, but tell you that they would provide you with useful items (armour, weapons.) in exchange for food. Apparently food is the most valuable trading good right now.

Since it`s already late you decide to head to the inn. To your joy you get a meal and a bed for free.

Gather metal Roll: 5

Apparently the people in this town have to recycle everything, since there is currently no way to get new metal. And thus your companions find no scrap metal.

When you return to Bundok he is already sleeping and you decide to do the same.

I'll head to the inn and listen for rumors.

While eating your free meal you listen to the locals. While there aren`t many present, for at night the guards have to be doubled because of the bandits, you manage to hear some rumors.

The people tell that there's a dragon living right behind the west wall. Apparently he lives beneath the earth and devours travelers.
You hear the occasional stories about the bandits and how they torment the village; But the stories about a Wizard seem more interesting. The people say that he lives in his tower in the east and is able to bend both demons and fire to his will.

Like Bundok you accept the free meal and the bed.

You are satiated.
Morning has just broken.
It rains, and the sky is grey and clouded.

well, that was easy, wait for everyone to gather once more and exchange information on what to do next... go buy a weapon from the merchants for me using my rations, a long-sword and a shield would be nice.

After discussion, suggest hunting down these bandits.  They're in our way if we go to the wizard, we're highly trained super soldiers, and we could use a good reputation.

Thank the elder for his hospitality, ask if he knows how the bandits are so numerous or why they're so ruthless.

Then gather with the others and agree to go see the wizard. We'll probably get to kill some bandits on the way anyway.
