Make all the appropriate annunciations to make it sound like a speech from some politick, then simply say "We seek shelter from the wilderness for a day or two, so that we may recover and make plans; I know not wether the others will, but I will do anything I can to assist your settlement in any way."
The guard listens patiently, but looks confused and even a bit annoyed.
"Immortals? What? Do you think you are immortal, boy? Oh, just because you haven`t died yet doesn`t mean that you are immortal. Haven`t you seen those skulls on the way through the forest? I guess some of them thought that they are immortal, too. Then some bandit killed them. And about which war are you speaking, anyway? You are far too young to remember the border incident or the strife of the three kings. Is there something wrong with you?"
"And you offer us your help? Aye, maybe we could find some work for you. Yet, the times aren`t as good as they once were and we can`t let you in without the approval of the captain of the guard. Surely you understand this. Excuse us."
And with that both guards vanish inside and close the gate behind them. You can hear whispers from beyond the wall.

[Listening roll]: 17Either your hearing is very keen or they are simply speaking too loud. In any case, you can hear what they say:
"Do you think they are spies? Do you think they belong to the bandits?" You can hear someone ask; Probably the other guard.
"Spies who introduce themselves as "Immortals of the War"? Nah. Bloody hell, if our enemies would be so stupid we wouldn`t have to worry about them. I mean, how was that supposed to win our trust?" The guardsman said.
"But what are they then?"
"It may sound unlikely but i think they are wanderers from beyond the glass desert. Have you seen how they looked? Both their clothing and their appareance was strange. Remember, the merchants of the south were always quite queer. It is said that they live next to some cursed ruins; Apparently the curse causes some of them to look and think strange. Just like that bearded fellow."
"But we haven`t had visitors from the south since months.." The other guard remarked.
"All the more reason to tell the boss."
You can hear footsteps and then they are apparently gone.
After some time the gate is opened again and the guards resume their posts.
"Well guys, you can come in. You are welcome in the city of Bayden. Sorry if i was a bit rude, but we didn`t have many visitors from the south lately. If you seek a shelter you should visit the
Old Oak Inn on the east side of the town. There you can get the best food. The beds are also quite clean. We have notified the village elder of your arrival- If you want to speak with him just go to his house. It shouldn`t be hard to find it, it is the big house in the middle of the town."
"And.." He said, looking at Bundok, "If some of you need medical treatment you should visit the temple. My uncle used to be a bit confused and distracted from time to time, too, but the priests have some soothing herbs that help with that kind of disease."
Then he steps aside and you enter the town.
Apparently the town was built in a big forest clearing. You can see many houses, all made from wood, and the people seem to be busy. Yet, you can see that this town has seen better times. Many houses are in ill repair and you see various malnourished and wounded persons.
You aren`t hungry, but you wouldn`t mind a good meal either.
