You all get 1950Exp: Bringing everyone's total to 7320.
Wow, that means we need 2680 to level to 5th. We're going along rather nicely.

Yeah, I may have overestimated how much Exp you guys get from something that is suppose to be "overwhelming"

But you guys are really strong and if you stay strong for your level you will level up very fast as I try to bring in things that will make it fun for you.

So what do you think of the power balance Criptfeind?

Not... perfect. Mostly okay though.

Edit: What's your stance on retraining feats? Not planning to now, but I will later if I can.

Though you haven't said anything about retraining feats yet.
Retraining feats is fine.

I stand by what I said.

Time to get an animal companion. I'm thinking I should get either a snake or a badger, but I was wondering if I could replace my animal companion with something else, because my character doesn't seem like the type to pick up some random animal. I could work it in, but it'd take a bit of work.

There is still that giant rat in the pit!

But really we will work something out. When I get some sleep. I am sure there is a variant somewhere.

Two Four immediate things that jump out:

Give it up for a free feat.

Give it up and if you hit a enemy it counts as flanked until the start of your next round.

Lose it, gain better spell casting (not by much)

Lose it, gain bonus on skills, commune with nature once per day.

Have you defined what is wrong with having an animal companion? Or is it just a sort of a 'feel' issue...

The druidic avenger is a druid that gives up animal companion to be a barbarian. I do not believe that we are using variant classes in this campaign, but it may give you ideas on the sort of things that might be a valid substitution. Bear in mind though, that druids have more impressive companions than rangers...

Maybe you could trade in the companion for the ability to spontaneously swap spells for summon nature's ally spells. Or maybe a skill bonus or something, maybe +2 to survival and knowledge(nature) rolls...

P.S.
I will level my character now, shouldn't take long...

Sorry guys.  Personal issues took a fore last night and I didn't have time to give excuses.

Which is a horrendous shame, as I was really looking forward to the end sequence of this session.

Short version then; what did I miss?

Well, we found a dead lizard lady. We killed a fire, puddle, cloud, and statue, repeatedly. Well, not the statue so much, but the rest died enough to make up for it...
We found a big rock that we can't read, a little rock that can't decide if it is a rock, and a big room that can't decide how many rocks are in it.
Nobody died, My wand of lesser vigour is down to 45 charges, the goblins were conveniently absent from the proceedings, and that was it.
Ummm, noteworthy events... Ulf paid me the campaign maguffin in exchange for a lousy 1st level buff spell...

P.S.
Character updated.

By the way, the "campaign maguffin" is the little rock, it's a gem thing that opens portals to other planes or something. The big rock is a giant tablet that appears to be a really old form of draconic (I bet you that it involves, and will be the plot hook to, the draconic prophecy or something).

Also, Skye did nothing while an earth elemental beat him up, so my character was left with attacking the earth elemental while it punched you. I think you had about 4 HP left.

This one sounds the most in-character-like. What kind of bonus on skills?

You went though the wall and got attacked by a rock. Well you held it off the others fought the other elements and managed to stop them. You guys got the Gem of planes and found old writing.

Do not worry about missing it, I understand how it is sometimes. I played your guy so do not worry about Exp or anything.

It seems I have a missing book, does anyone have complete champions?

Wait got it.

Spiritual Guide
Level 4th
You hear the whispers of father fish well in the wilderness, telling you the wisdom of the wilds. Once you enter any civilized area larger than a hamlet, father fish departs, returning when you are back in the wild. He grants you a divine bonus of 1/4 ranger level on Handle Animal, Knowledge (nature), Listen, Search, Spot, and Survival checks. In addition, the spell Commune with Nature is added to your ranger spell list, and you are granted a free casting of it 1/day.

There you go.

Or, you could get a Dire Bat at level 8 for an animal companion. Weight limit of 173 and fly speed of 30. You would have an awesome flying mount, and you would be the first person in our party that could fly. (I can fly at HD of 6, or an ECL 9) Also consider the Natural Bond feat from Complete Adventurer. It adds 3 to your effective druid level for animal companions, which means you could have the bat at level 6 if you take the feat then.

Hey guys, something has come up. We will have to skip this weekends session. I am very sorry but I can not do it.

Sorry for springing this on you at the last minuet like this.

That might be awesome too. Though it technically only has to carry 50 pounds, so do you know of a lower-level-but-still-viable option?

This is kind of funny, an eagle could carry up to 49 or 50 (3/4 of 66, depends on rounding) pounds as a medium load. It also has a fly speed of 80, but it's reduced to 55 if it has a medium load, and it will, if you are carried by it. Pretty much impossible to ride it, being a small animal, but it could at least carry you. Although it's stated to be about 3 feet long, so I don't know about that.

Also, whoever calculated the dire bat's carrying capacity forgot to factor in that it's a large animal. It actually can carry up to 514 pounds (!!) as a medium load, or 258 as a light load. One of us could ride that thing if we were a small character, and even with our medium size, we can still have it carry us or something.

Well, technically it's only 44 pounds that it has to carry, if I had all my equipment. Being two and a half feet tall, it wouldn't be that unfeasible to ride an eagle. (They have six foot wing spans in some cases.)

Now I'm thinking about how awesome it would be to fly around, shooting things from up above.
