Is there any way this can be done without Hamachi?  If not I'm probably going to have to drop out.  I give Hamachi chance after chance and every time I install it my internet immediately gets fucky.

I run one without Hamachi, myself. All you must do is allow Maptools through your firewall and give everyone your external IP, and they should be able to connect. Hell, if Criptfeind can't do it, I'll run the server and just join as a player, letting Cript join as a GM.
