Will dwarves ever bite?
« on: August 15, 2010, 06:25:42 pm »

I had an immigrant arrive as a Proficient Biter. I used the Higher Learning Mod, and trained him up to Great Biter now, in his off-time from sparring. I haven't been able to catch him biting any goblins yet, in the combat reports.
Can a dwarf bite, in combat?

Unless it is bugged, yes.

Unless they've changed it recently:

1. Only if he is crippled.
2. Only if his legs and arms are unable to be used in combat (for example, he has a headlock on four goblins, he will end up biting the fifth one)

I had a feeling that the answer would be something like that, Josephus.

So.. If he still has legs, but no use of his arms, he will kick, instead of bite?
If so, too bad.. no legs means, permanently bedridden, at least until crutches are fixed.

I wonder.. what would be a good way of turning a dwarf into McStumpy.. I guess, giving them only a helm, chainmail, breastplate and greaves would leave their hands and feet unprotected.. war-axe weapon traps, or large serrated discs might do the trick :D

I so want to see a dwarf headlock four separate goblins at the same time, that would be kind of epic.  I feel like at that point the goblins should be able to just walk away with the dwarf while still headlocked as long as they all go in the same direction.

I think you're confused. They don't mean biting with teeth, he just likes to steal other dwarves style. :p

If you have the best healthcare ever and a sword wielding captain gets to him he will always bite. Unfortunately that's all he will be able to do.
