quick question on trading caged animals

as the title says.

Is it even possible anymore?  Whenever I set them to be traded they just release the animal in the middle of my fort and take an empty cage to the depot.  anyone seen this happen?

Yep. At the moment I don't think that you can sell caged animals; they just get released in the fortress.

Just make a trap with them instead.
