What program to use to make custom tile sets...
« on: August 15, 2010, 03:00:36 pm »

I've tried MSPaint as that's the program that I have most readily available but when I save I lose all transparencies.

What program do you guys use? I just noticed there is a "draw opaque" option under "Image" in MSPaint and that is checked for me. Still,(figured out what this is) I would like to get a little better of a tool for editing these images.

Gimp is a good and free one that should let you do everything you need for making tilesets.

I make Grimlocke's History & Realism Mods. Its got poleaxes, sturdy joints and bloomeries. Now compatible with DF Revised!

Actually went out and got Gimp before you posted and have just started editing and it appears to be working very well. Might want to put Gimp in the list of tools in the sticky at the top of this forum... Maybe I'll suggest that later if nobody sees this and does it.

I've always used Paint Shop Pro and liked it, but now that they're owned by Corel, I don't know if quality has gone downhill.
