I remember there once being an artifact that was decorated with 75 pictures of itself.

Yes, but this one is more than 6 times planepacked's worth.
It depicts itself 7 times.

Now, normally you'd hear recommendations to install this somewhere pretty in what will eventually be the king's room- But I think nobles in general are worthless freeloaders. I've got two ideas as for what you could do with this.

1) Create a massive destruction device that will flood the map and your fort. This immensely valuable floodgate would be the plug, of course. The only safe room should be the room with the lever, which would be usable only by the highest ranking noble. The activation chamber should be safe from the magma and should have a very small amount of food and booze to ensure that you get to see your enemies burn. I'd say only use this if you're losing a war, but it's your fort and you can obliterate it how you see fit.

2) If you have one dwarf that you feel actually helped build your fort up to what it is today, say, a double legendary miner/engraver, give him or her a kingly room and put the floodgate somewhere that they're sure to get a boost from it.

I say combine the two:
create an impenetrable bunker deep underground. Fill it with enough food and booze to last a single dwarf an entire year. Put every lever in this room, and then send your most valuable dwarf inside. Once he's in, seal the entrance from outside. This panic room will ensure your enemy's demise once you pull the lever, lowering the adamantine floodgate, drowning the fortress in magma.

Hmmm... my named masterwork adamantine axe wielding legendary everything dwarf does get a lot of friends/kitties/babies skewered, so that may be a good idea indeed.

This may only depict itself 7 times, but it's made of raw adamantine, while Planepacked was made of stone, hence why it is more valuable.

On a related note, we worked out both why Planepacked happened and that the conditions/circumstances could be repeated, right? If so, then someone should try to get a Planepacked-type statue made of adamantine, just to see how valuable an artifact you can make.

You may want to ensure that the dorf locked in the room doesn't have many friends/has become immune to tragedy on a previous occasion, otherwise you may break the record for shortest time spent between sane but miserable and absolutely berserk.

You must feel truly gifted to have received such a thing.

or the axe dwarf you mentioned will work...

The Planepacked exploit is the one he used, and I WAS thinking about suggesting he savescum for something more interesting than a floodgate...

The point of my idea is to destroy everything and everyone. No going back!

Hum. Finding a way to douse the magma outside and obsidianize it would be pretty cool, too.

He's a friggin' mason, it could be worse.
"This is a raw adamantine quern. It menaces with..."

But fine. I made a copy of the save before the artifact was complete anyway. Hang on!
Armor stand, same name, same value. Bleh.

The good news is that if the floodgate somehow gets destroyed, every single dwarf in your fortress will instantly fall down dead, their hearts and minds broken forever.
