The funny thing is, the "Battle" of Battle Creek goes like this:
Thee dudes are out surveying land. One of them, who has a gun, goes ahead to scout for bears.
So the other two dudes are doing their surveying thing, when two Natives jump out of the forest (one reportedly had an axe,) and they start a fistfight. Gun dude comes back and fires some shots in the general vicinity of the Natives, and chases them off. End of battle.

I've been in more violent bar brawls.

All Granite Baby.

Whoa, that really seems like a spot for dwarves to embark! Have you planned any megaprojects on that cliff face there?

I have chosen a sand embark with an airstrip for giant eagles:

I live between one of those and a gigantic graveyard. Awesome embark.

Also, @Qloos: DUUUUUUUUUDE! That's seriously amazing. When does the megaproject begin?

I'd post mine, but I feel like people would make fun of me for living like an elf.

Here.

As you may see, the Swiss Midlands are covered by gentle, sloping hills, the occasional less gently sloping hill, rivers, some forests and many, many towns.

Ahhh, another swiss guy, cool ^^

I'm living in a region of switzerland called Emmental. I'd love to see hills like that in df.

From "Angroshs Kinder" Das schwarze Auge Zwergenhandbuch - (Angrosh Children, the dark eye, german pen&paper, dwarven handbook):
"Elves!? Their men dont wear beards, and their women bathe nacked to lure you into the water and drown you. Thank Angrosh they are as ugly as the day and all big and skinny."

My hometown.  Note the wonderful limestone layer for all your flux and ore needs.  ;D  Also running water not too far from there.  No interesting wildlife and the soil has clay in it.

Note:  I don't even live in the state anymore so good luck getting any useful info out of that.

You need to make said elf leather into the most amazing work of art.  Embed it with every kind of gem you have, stud it with metals, and sew images into it.  Erect a shrine outside your fort with that in the center.  Let the elves know that you view their very skin as naught more but a medium for your dwarves to work on.

I've heard people say that Gruyère was the one with the holes… that is not true.

Emmental has got holes.
Gruyère is fairly hole-less.
