Cages :<
« on: August 14, 2010, 11:48:55 am »

Soup, having a bit of a problem with cages, no idea if it's a bug or something i'm doing wrong so i'ma post it here.

So basically - i can't target them with anything but /look, it shows everything correct but when i try to move or otherwise interact with the cage (with something i captured myself inside) i can't do nothing.

I can however move and jerk around with cages where i have put something inside like dogs and such, but when i try to release the dog, dwarf will walk there, "release" it and the the cage moves 2 tiles in random direction and jams there, no dwarf will even try to move it to animal stack, and the dog just stays in that cage

Shortly put, empty cages fine, cages with animals are unmovable or become unmovable when touched.

They're probably still in stockpile. You have to "build" them... which means "set them up", completely different from manufacturing them.

Press 'b' - 'j' - select a spot - 'x' - select a cage - 'Enter'.

After building the cage, you have to go to the "assign" screen and un-assign whatevers in the cage to get it out.

It sounds like, right now, you are building the cages and then deconstructing them.
