Can Hippos (and, by extension, other aquatic creatures) climb up onto a bridge from the water?

I certainly HOPE that Hippos can't climb... or at least, can't climb up ropes... because I've got one in my Well.

Unless it can fly nothing can climb up with nothing but a rope.

As for the climbing onto a bridge: maybe. I'm inclined to say no, but I'm not 100% on this. It should be fairly easy to test using adventure mode.

Creatures which can swim innately and breathe air can exit from the top of the water onto adjacent land, without needing ramps or stairs.  If the bridge is built directly on top of the water the hippos may well be able to climb up onto the bridge from the water.

If they couldn't climb, they would never have been able to get out of rivers, along with crocodiles, alligators, camels, toads and other amphibians.

I am disappoint. I was expecting measured drawings and geometric equations to determine if a hippo could climb stairs built by and for dorfs.

They can't climb as well as they can sing, that's for sure.

For some reason this is the most hilarious thread I've ever seen.

"Dear Bay12 Forums members,

  Can hippos climb?

                          Reply fast, EddyP"

P.S.: I think I see some crocs too.

I'm not mocking you by the way, I just immediately thought of something like this.

All I can think of for them is to put them in cages in my entranceway, then release them when the gobbos come. But I've already got a trap designed to wash invading enemies into the river (or, eventually, the crocodile pitt).

Actually, I may use some of those gorillas to test it......
