Animal transport...
« on: August 12, 2010, 05:00:24 am »

So I love starting with animal based economy, kennel, butcher, etc.

But for the life of me I can't locate the skill that makes my dwarves not get eaten alive when transporting a troll from a cage to a restraint/pit(or whatever else)...
Any pointers? I've got a plethora of creatures I want to utilize , but am too nervous to move them.

*The animals I have are in stockpiles, the result of cage traps.*

construct cage containing troll (use x to expand cage list) right next to the restraint. might help. thing is you then will want to deconstruct the cage after chaining the troll... which might lead to the cage remover getting trolled. lol.

I should be able to have hostile animals on restraints like in that one movie.

If you want something that is currently in a cage in a pit and you don't mind losing the cage and a mechanism then you can build the cage where you want the animal, connect it to a lever a safe distance away, lock them in (preferably using a constucted wall, especially with trolls which are building destroyers) and then pull the lever. Unfortunately it is difficult to add new animals to the area using this method.

When/if you want it back out again then build a few cage traps around where you built the wall, then deconstuct the wall.
