So I've only just started using marksdwarves and I was wondering if friendly fire is possible and likely.  So far I've had my melee dwarves run at goblins while my marksdwarves are firing at them without incident and I'm worried that maybe I've just been lucky so far.  Am I likely to have my marksdwarves miss and injure my hammerdwarves if I let them engage the same targets?

Nope, no friendly fire, as far as I can recall.

After a bolt passes effective range it will hit anything; this is almost impossible, as bolts usually hit the ground or stop and fall.
