Should I feel weird for the fact that I played every single game mentioned in this thread?

Still great suggestions, and yea, played ogre battle exhaustively, lotsa secrets and twists that you can very easily miss. Namely the dragoon's quest and galf (if you took the evil path). I didn't like the n64 one for some reason, I think its mostly the fact that there's no emulator that can run it without serious graphical glitches, plus the first missions are pretty darn boring. The plot is still awesome +1, and there's even MOAR references to queen (Let Us Cling Togheder).

I also hated the Final Fantasy Tactics Advance games, probably because I played FFT on the PSX way before I tried them, and noticed all the adaptation decay. They changed the style completely. Instead of a medieval fantasy theme that got darker and darker as it went on and more of the plot was revealed, they turned it into a JRPG esque plot with cutesy characters and obvious supervillain of doom, plus the art of FFT was actualy really pretty, instead of the sugary coated FFTA ones.

Another game worth mention is Gladius for the PS2, Xbox and Gamecube.  I picked this up completely by random in a bargain bin a few years ago and absolutely loved it.  It features a Romanesque gladiator world with some greek mythology thrown in.  It has a pretty nice story as well.  There is also a nice two player competitive mode where you can take your save games and battle each other.

There is no FFTA. Square realized that they couldn't do any better than the Zodiac Stones, and anyone associated with FFT committed ritual suicide as a sacrifice to its awesomeness.

There is, however, no FFTA.

This is how I compare the two.

Friend who got me into FFT: "It's such an epic story. The body count is like 15 before the intro is even over."
FFTA: "A cripple, a future lesbian and a clueless dumb ass read a magic book and....."

It's like the God of the FFT universe took a massive blow to the head after the end of the first game, and spent the rest of eternity rearranging the world whilst drinking from his plastic sippy cup.

Yggdra Union for the GBA isn't isometric, more like Fire Emblem, but it certainly has it's moments.

I feel the urge to mention UFO / XCOM, only half way what you're talking about. Alongside the Reblestar tactical command is a GBA title that plays like the combat in UFO.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but The Battle for Wesnoth?http://www.wesnoth.org/

Combat is incredibly similar to Fire Emblem if I recall correctly. Though there isn't really one campaign, there are a bunch of campaigns ranging in difficulty, and I do believe there is a repository of player made campaigns as well. I had a lot of fun with this game a while back.

I just remembered another you probably played.

Landstalker. (Sega Genesis)

Iso action roleplayer. While it's not the deepest game in the world, there's just something charming about its style and it mixes in a heavy doze of puzzle solving and finding secret stuff. Definitely recommend it.
