Starting the rolls right now. One question though, are the 'hot wings' usually the breast muscle of the bird or does it not really matter?

Turn 5: Mind controlled riot

There were some really good rolls this turn, including an apparent 180 from a dodge that rolled a two and almost initiated the first player vs NPC combat. I'm not quite sure how well I handled the dodge, damage, and luck rolls there.

Also, Dwarfguy2, will you please post your actions in bold? Everybody else does it and it's good practice for RTDs.


cook myself some hot wings.
You find what appears to be a nice spot for a BBQ pit just outside the forest and begin cooking with your awesome BBQing skills, you skin and feather your catch first, don't want charred fur or feathers do we? [4] You cook the birds quite nicely, then slice up the meat to gain 6 hot wings. Just where the spices came from, lets just say it was magically there. You decide to go for cooking the squirrel [5], mmm! delish squirrel on a stick!


Perform a rune ritual to find the tyrant; Or at least narrow down the area in which he could hide.
[5] Finding a quiet corner of the market, Arngrim performs a rune ritual and concentrates on known facts about the tyrant. The runes glow and create a slowly spinning vertical vortex. Upon that vortex, there is a group of mountains that look like this one, but then the view zooms upwards and you can see whats beyond the mountain. The number 42 flashes in the corner and a grid becomes superimposed over the view and one of the grid squares lights up. You concentrate on the lit square and the view zooms onto what appears to be an ancient castle. Before you can zoom in any further, the view suddendly becomes an aieral view of the region. The approximate location is somewhere to the northeast, near another large forest and some more mountains, and possibly a river. A giant number 42 suddendly appears on the 'screen', then the vortex dissapears and the runes stop glowing.


I vote we head into der mountains.

For this turn, I will attempt to levitate/fly around the area, hoping to learn more about our surroundings.


[2] From a levitating position several inches off the ground, you attempt to fly and try to call on the winds to propel you upwards and... call up a breeze. All you did was push yourself horizontially, which you can already do.


Ask the local blacksmith for some scrap metal and then make some magical trinkets and sell them.

[5] The local blacksmith is apparently a friend or a worshipper of Hephaestus, so he gives you quite a bit of metal, 100 units worth. ((Good thing I'm not implementing encumberment, also you can make it whatever metal you want. You ARE the son of Hephaestus after all.)) [4] You use up four units of it in making trinkets, which you manage to sell for 30 coins total.


Go invisible and scare the living shit out of the tyrant's troops with illusions. Ask for Tharin's help in this.

Play the drunks off the guardsmen, try to get the rest of the village involved aswell, "up with the revolution
[3] [5]

Both of our tricksters come up with a plan to cause a shitload of chaos. First Alethe goes invisible and procceeds to the barracks where most of the guardsmen are and begins to scare the living shit out of the troops [6], she creates illusions of horrifying monsters and spirits. Unfortunately the guards stampede right towards where Alethe is and [2 (dodge)] ((crap, didn't want to start combat just yet)) slam into her, stunning her and shutting off invisibility. [3 (hit)] She manages to avoid the brunt of the stampede, however the gods shine on her [6 Luck] and escapes with a couple bruises. The soldiers are still blind with fear and don't notice her, despite crashing right into Alethe. Meanwhile, Tharin tries to get the villagers to rise up against the troops, [3] the drunks are too.... drunk to be of much help, they do start a barfight though. [5] He does rile up some of the villagers, especially the ones that he gave weapons to earlier, into fighting with the troops. Looks like there is plenty of hidden anger in the villagers.

Statuses: stunned (-1 to any roll for next turn)
Equipped:2x throwing daggers and a deceptive baton type club (both belted)
Powers/Abilities: Mind Control, Illusions, Invisibility
Inventory: Greek style travelling clothes, a bag of 10 coins, a deceptively nonlethal baton type club, two throwing daggers, and a iron chainmail shirt.

Equipped: Dagger (belted), bow (on back)
Powers/Abilities: fireball, bow and arrow, summon imp, Resistance/invulnerability to fire
Inventory: Belt, quiver, bow, dagger, 6 hot wings and a squirrel on a stick.


LordInquisitor/Arngrim

Statuses: None
Equipped: Bag of runes (belted), sword (belted), shield (belted), javelin (tied to back)
Powers/Abilities: Wisdom, Martial Trance, Rune Rituals
Inventory: Leather, Norse style clothing, has a big fur cloak, a bag containing his whole set of runes, a Viking era style sword, a ‘shield', and a javelin.

Wolfchild/Tharin
Health: You are one healthy demi-coyote.
Statuses: None
Equipped: Knife (belted), extradimensional satchel (belted)
Powers/Abilities: Shapechanging (Cosmetic and functional), Illusions, Minor Telekenesis

MagusBlack/Torc
Health: Your inner fire is at maximum.

Equipped: Backpack, artifact hammer (in backpack)
Powers/abilities: Godly forging, fire magic, hitting things with hammers
Inventory: Travellers clothes, fire-proof backpack filled with all the tools that a traveling Omni-smith needs, a large, beautifully crafted hammer made for both battle and smithing that was gift from Hephaestus himself, heat-resistant steel chain-mail, 30 coins, 96 units of metal.

RNG/Neberhar
Health: Maximum.
Statuses: none
Equipped: Fighting staff (tied to back)
Powers/abilities: Control Weather, Peace, Void, and Can levitate in the air (More practice needed before flight capability).
Inventory: Thin silk and linen travelling clothes, and a long fighting staff.

Edit: The format wierded up, dunno why.

Edit2: Forgot to finish LordInquisitors turn *facepalm* getting to work on that one right now. Edit3: Finished :)

Edit4: Found a bunch more formatting wierdness :P

Tell my comrades about what i found out. Ask the rioting villagers whether they have anything useable that we could use to support them. (Weapons, armour, useable things we could need when going into the forest, mountains, castle ruins.)

heheh, I was just doing some random stuff, you know, vague oracles and all that. Although its far less vague than a typical oracle. I also pretty much gave you guys two choices, either shortcut through the mountains (the ones that are nearby actually extend a ways north) or take the long way around and follow the road that heads north.

Why exactly do we want the villagers to kill each other again?

The villagers aren't attacking each other (the drunks are just being that, drunk), they're going after the troops, and you guys are doing it just for the hell of it I guess. Seriously though, you guys should be getting going soon, even though the two tricksters are having alot of fun here.

Anyways, going to have to do the turn this afternoon as I'm doing the math finals this morning.

1. A LOT, thats for sure. I'll keep the crafting system simple as you're the only one actually crafting anything for now. Also, the metal is just a generic metal, its up to you to choose what metal you want. Since you didn't specify anything, I'll go ahead and use steel.

2. You mean like enchant an item for something for a boost? I'm really not sure how to deal with that. RNG or one of the others who have dealt with using magic could help me here. I know the first Arcanum Octet deals pretty heavy with runes.

Also, I think I'm gonna remove the Post Apoc part of the title, if everybody is ok with that.

Edit: Man, some people are getting pretty bad rolls this time. TBH, I had actually rolled early with a 4 and then rolled again with a 1 and checked again and another one. Since I wasn't sure if it was randomizing right, I flicked it a few times with 16 d6 just to be sure. It could be the RNG spiting me or something :P

Start forging some gauntlets. Mix some of my blood/inner fire in the molten metal.
[4] After setting up his mobile forge, Torc uses one metal bar per gauntlet, transmutes them into steel, [5]imbue the molten steel with a drop of your blood, giving them resistance to heat and +1 to fire magic rolls. You put them in your backpack for now.


Practice mind control on some forest animals
[2-1] You fail either because you are out of range or you didn't find any, but now you have a headache from somehow overexerting yourself, ow..... You probably should give your brain a break for a while. (+2 to any mind based actions for 3 turns or roll a 4 or above) At least you aren't stunned anymore. Also, any illusions and mind control you still had got cancelled. The riot is still going under its own momentum.

[1] After you stash your clothes, you try to shift into a small-medium sized dog and fail. Not only did you fail, you somehow get stuck in the middle of transformation ((Remember this from your own RTD Wolfchild? lol)), which resembles a werewolf and somehow you gained another pair of arms. That wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for the fact that your hands are now large paws, useless for grasping anything. Your desire to watch the riot gets spoiled by Neberhar.

[4] You eat 3 of the hot wings and are pretty satiated. You should get back to the village soon or you'll have to catch up.


Cast a Peace spell over the town and head out towards the mountains.
[5] You concentrate on the spell and unleash it with such strength that even the most aggressive fighter calms down. Pretty soon, the troops will have the upper hand. ((in an actual fight rather than a scene wide melee, I'll be doing dodge rolls on each of the combatants.))

After a few hours, everybody meets on the outskirts of the village, preparing to head out, either going along the road that heads north or head northeast and cut across the mountains. RNG, I know you have voted for going through the mountains, I'm just giving everybody else a chance to vote.

For some reason, every time I edit and then copy and paste the character stuff from notepad, it puts break points where there shouldn't be, which is really annoying. Anybody know how I can get it to stop doing that? Using windows word may help, but still. The mode toggle may also have something to do with it, not sure.

For the tricksters in our group, it certainly looks like it.
