My fortress WhipOil is in it's 4th year. I've already been sieged twice by Gobbos, and now a third time...

... but this time they're throwing everything at me, including the Civilization Ruler. It's a Demon... with a poisonous bite. She brought 93 minions along, including 14 Trolls and an aerial scout mounted on a Giant Cave Swallow.

My military consists of 24 Dwarves (six Axe, six Hammer, 12 X-Bow) armored in Steel Plate, and none of them are Legendary yet.

Sounds like FUN. Any advice?

Wall up your entrance.  And pray.

Wait for the caravan guards to show up and kick ass. And then die.

And then come back the next year, and do it again.

Eventually, they will win.

Start engraving and making statues while leading your troops into glorious battle.  Whipoil shall make history!

That, or wall up behind fortifications and snipe off the intruders at a leisurely pace.

It's only the fourth year since the founding of WhipOil... I haven't even dug down to the first Cavern level yet, let alone to the Magma level.

Well, seal your entrance, dig down to the first cavern level (which has enough resources to make up for not having surface access any more) and pump Magma at your leisure.

Well... so far, I've raised the drawbridge to seal myself in, then re-dug out my entrance corridor, dismantled my Depot and Doors (the Doors wouldn't stop a Building Destroyer anyway), thus clearing a nice long corridor for cage and weapon traps. I'm laying down rows of 10-weapon traps, and I'm going to dig a trench right behind them... with a retracting bridge across it.

When I'm ready, I'll lower the drawbridge to let the uglies in, wait until my entry corridor fills with uglies, and then retract the bridge ahead of them, breaking their pathing. Then I'll close the drawbridge behind them, move both squads of Archers into LoS and fire across the trench at them. Once most of them are dead, I'll re-extend the bridge and send in my clean-up crew of Axe and Hammer Dwarves.

With luck, I'll be able to take out all of the minions, and only have to melee the Demon itself... it's immune to traps (at least, I'm quite sure it would be).

It's a Building Destroyer, yes... but raised Drawbridges are treated as Walls, and therefore immune to attack by Building Destroyers, unles this functionality has changed.

The cowardly Demon retreated off-map after I'd killed most of its minions.

Oh jesus, this is the first time I've heard of a 31.x demon leading a goblin siege. What did you do to get them so mad?

At any rate, any crossbowdwarves you can muster will probably be handily shot down by their crossbowdwarves. I suggest you turtle like the other dude up there said and wait for the Caravans.
