How to make animal traps?

Well my problem is this one, I dont know how to make animal traps and I got 3 elephants roaming dangerously close to my fortress entrance, but I have only 1 hour with this fort and the only thing I can do is wooden animaltraps/cages, these ones will work? Or Im screwed?  :-\

So nothing to be worried about? Well if I still want to catch them for and butcher them?

Set up a string of cage traps outdoors. You can also build walls or dig channels in order to funnel them into your traps. Wooden cages work fine.
