I hope that in future releases, deities will get their spheres from the word list.

Nevermind...

Ertal Raldorenlimul "Ertal the Silvery Diamond Gold"

Ertal the Silvery Diamond Gold was a deity that occurs in the myths of The Silvery bolt of Competing. Ertal the Silvery Diamond Gold was most often depicted as a FEMALE DWARF and was ASSOCIATED WITH WEALTH.

Another one:

Kezat the Regal Noble
Again, deity in myths of The Silvery Bolt of Competing. Male dwarf, valor, war, FORTRESSES and jewels.

Heck of a noble.

Also, at strat, you don't know all the deities in legends right?

I so love the random name generator.  It's fun to think up a justification for some of the sillier combinations.  The deity names seem to be a bit tightened wrt the spheres they control, but they're still tons of fun to go through.

Some from my newly-generated world (and I haven't even looked at ruler names yet):

El Budlights the Bright Radiance, deity: the dawn - From the human civ The Realm of Rooms.  He should've been the God of Beer!

Nithim the Invisible Beer of Fog, deity: the moon, labor, crafts - Another human deity from The Slippery Confederacies.  Slippery surfaces, a beer-hazed god of labor...I'd bet they don't have anything like OSHA.

Obin Ivorychances the Pastime of Amusement, deity: gambling - A very appropriate name from the human civ the Outrageous Nation of Rope.

Shezr“d Eelmenaced the Bad Sins of Pandering, deity: depravity - From the Dwarvish civ the Ivory Mountain of Justices.  I wonder if ol' Shez is the patron of politicians as well?  :)

The human civ The Whimsical Federation of Workers has a god of deformity, a god of disease and a god of nightmares.  Whimsy has its dark side...?

Slupi Callusmolds, deity: deformity, disease, blight - from the human Pleated Realm of Portals.  I just love the name.

The Empire of Amusing has a god of...muck.

Two human civs have a deity named Leto, and both deities are associated with water (oceans in one case, rivers and streams in another).  Not sure if that's a planned thing, but very cool.

The Realm of Hips, Humans
Worship List
 Onuth, deity: dance, music

Those hips don't lie.

The same civ had a god of poetry, inspiration and song, a good of writing (and treachery) and a god of painting. Also a god of birth and creation

Setrub Grizzlylice the Gut of Jackals, deity: depravity, rainbows
Awesome combination there.   :D

And:
Ongul the Helmed Occult Phlegm, deity: blight, death, rebirth, creation, crafts, the dawn, twilight
Wow, 7 different spheres?

Kitha the Fatal Ashen Grave of Burials

The god of suicide.
Not because of the god but of what the high priest said when I asked about serving them.

Your task is simple; speak the praises of suicide.
Speak the praises of suicide.
Simply experience suicide.
All you need to do is consider suicide.
Just experience suicide.

I then climbed to the tallest tower and took their advice. Also since I didn't die right away I swam into the middle their oh so nice pond before drowning. It should take awhile to get my corpse out.

There are some strange spheres combinations :

Uja Fancybloats the Mellow Pulps-Chants of Spit, deity: blight, disease, music

Makes me dream of a Random Ambient Music Generator functioning with sphere tags. These humans sure enjoy an interesting music...

Otherwise, some names are pretty redundant, so as :

Kara Heatedflames the Firey Firey Fire-Heat of Heat, deity: fire

One would never have guessed. Or was he the first Great Priest a stammerer ?

This name is awesome.

My favorite civilization and deity so far: The Oracular Malignant Monsters of Ransacking, goblins, ruled by the infernal deity Bosa the Ungodly Hate of Terrors. The civ/deity combination actually struck some fear into me.  I do NOT want to tangle with these guys.  My last fort had to deal with the Speckled Scorpions, which sound more like desert raiders; these guys bring to mind visions of Mount Doom, with an immortal demon-emperor lording over his goblin forces, waiting and plotting to annihilate the world and spread fire and flame over all that lives.

It's all in the name, baby.

My favorite so far has got to be Alis Bal Lenod, aka Alis the Growth of Seeds, god of pregnancy.

Sapa Dragonreins, human goddess of leadership is pretty cool, too.

Wait, so do these 'gods' really exist in the game as creatures, or are they just random words tied to each civilization?

(He...he...that is the ultimate question isn't it?!...Does God exist?)
