So, I'm thinking about running something flavorful in a while
« on: August 07, 2010, 01:33:40 pm »

Since I'm pretty near to finishing off the flavortext for BMIX and I felt like running another game, I'm opening up a poll.

Which one of these games do you think I should run?  I'm putting Prism on hold for a while, since I really need to work out the mechanics and I don't exactly consider myself the most reliable of mods at the moment.  I warn you that anything I run is probably going to be rather slow, as well as small.  That is, expect the default day run to be on the long side.  Nights will last a couple of days.  This is because I'm also going to be telling a story, as well as running a game.

Also, please don't vote option 6 just to be funny.  It is not appreciated :I

*Ahem*

I was thinking of trying out one of this dere dem Mafia games. I would totally be interested in joining in on this, unless there's a mafia game somewheres better suited to my noobishness. I just voted beginner because... I wanna play, too. <_>

No, but half the "fun" in these mafia games, from what I gleaned looking over Solifuge's shoulder, is the flavor. So, uhm, yeah!

(also, votes are working fine for me thus far).

Nah, I've been thinking about running the next beginner's game for a while.  Just... need to think up more epic flavorings >_>

I can help, if you want. I like the flavor aspect of Mafia a lot, and I think I can do it.

Thanks, but I have a certain something in mind and I've always been a terrible collaborator ._.

EDIT: also, the rest of you punks should vote :I  I didn't create the poll so you could pretend it was a topiary.

I was toying with the idea, while I was at work, about a mafia game of villians all trying to find the hero(es). Essentially a bunch of comic villains like the joker, lex luthor, henchmen etc etc, trying to find batman, superman etc.

That's less flavorful, more gimmicky.

There's also a WWII thing you could do, as German spies who pretended to be Americans GIs were very prevalent in the European campaign. I am thinking of a Suspense Theater episode in particular that played very much like a mafia game: five guys in a jeep, all of them unfamiliar with one another. Some of them could speak German, or let on that they could, and one guy specifically had spent the entire show lying (he was just lazy it turns out, not a spy). That's also kind of lame though.

I might come up with more as time goes on- but those are two that come to mind. I noticed a certain proclivity of the Mafia games to be something more Supernatural or fantasy; I know thats not entirely true, but it seems to be a trend as far as I could see.

I hope I helped! :)

Erm... yes, well, I will have to think about it.  I have some basic ideas, but nothing solid yet.  Mostly, it's a question of which literary figures/archetypes I'm going to mangle this time.

Make it "A Very Dickens Mafia". Charles Dickens needs to get his literary figures mangled more often. But its all the rich people trying lynch all the poor underprivileged people Dickens was always writing about; so the mafia would be like Tiny Tim, Oliver Twist and Little Dorrit against the entirety of Industrial England.

Some one must stop those bastards!

Yeah, I'd better just get back to finishing BMIX.  I think the author may have lost her groove =/

Voted for beginner Because I've only played a mafia-like-game before, but not a real mafia.
I think it was called Slasher.  :-\

tl;dr: Interested.
