The reason I leave the Elves alone is that I need all the caravans I can get to sell my crap to. Otherwise it just piles up. While they have really shit items to give me in return, they do have cloth and leather and raw wood. So I'm paying 3 $ per unit instead of getting it for free on the surface (which I still do). That's like one rock craft for 50 units of wood.
