So I finally got my hands out from under my butt, and finished my Spiral Ramp down to the Caverns... Kinda Disappointed that it has to go down so far...

None the less my 4 Legendary Miners are able to mine out the other Ramp that leads back up, gonna do some oneway work and make it so that there is one going down and one coming up. Still in year one, Winter so going well...

Gonna be moving everything down there in year Two after I finish establishing the Basic Defence proper, the Walls are up just need to make it safe then down I go to stay. I will be digging a great big long shaft down to the Caverns to give light down there fort the Queens 'Garden' was saddened by the fact that Cavern Mud still hasn't been fixed for when you reclaim. Oh well will work on the underground farms shortly anywho...

There even a lovely Spire that I will build my Castle in when I get down there proper. Its even next to where the Garden will go so yay there...

Although the advisor hasn't had a meeting with you in some time, you find this note in your office - the signature and seal that of the Queen.

"I have had unsettling reports of aggressive creatures in your area. To minimise the risk of complete destruction if an attack does occur, I want an emergency bunker to be built - one which can hold food, drink and tools for three to seven dwarves. This bunker must have the ability to be completely sealed off from the outside, so that no invader could gain access once the refugees have fled. Please ensure a pick is included in the tools, as I have heard of many a group of refugees fleeing from invaders simply to die of hunger and thirst."

You start to wonder what else the advisor is reporting to the Queen...


Second challenge!

I think the advisor is rather easily scared by thieves.

By 'built', she can also mean 'dug out'. It doesn't have to be an actual wall/floor building (that would be cruel in the magma-filled valley  ). It needs at least one pick, a food stockpile and a booze stockpile (perhaps forbidden once it's full so that dwarves won't pilfer from it) and beds for the amount of dwarves you wish to provide for (3-7).

XD  I suppose I could build a farm in there.  I already have people burrowed in there.  I tunneled under the river to the volcano and built up.  It's actually how my metalworkers get to magma.  I'll work on getting a farm going along with improving the seal in the tunnel.   A nice lever that obsidianizes the 'escape tunnel' would be nice.
