Captain's log
Well, looks like we need to make a new mountainhome...
Bad news, we already tried this spot once. Good news, we don't need to bring picks or an anvil. And we'll be on a volcano, so we'll bring some ore and one coke to start a steel industry. I expect coal.
We're also told that there will be sand there, but just to be safe, and to jumpstart the glass industry that will fill in for the steel industry until it gets going, I bring 50 bags of sand.
Granite
Some idiot left the water on or something, because some sizzling brought my attention to the top of the volcano. I walk over to inspect whether the newly formed ground would be suitable for magma smelters and forges. I look down into the volcano, and what do I see, but adamantine! No wonder the queen wanted us here!
I order some quick and dirty accommodations dug out, close to the volcano, of course, but not so close, the magma mist can touch us. In addition, I hunt for coal. Before the go, I ask them for estimates on the amount of coal and lignite. They assure me there is more than we could ever need, but I still have my doubts.
Once the area was preped, I give orders for the glass furnace to be built. For the first time, I wonder the wisdom in having my carpenter also be my glass maker. In the meantime, I tell my mason to build it.
Slate:
Damn. That coal is proving elusive. In the mean time, we've struck limonite, which I take as a sign from armok that he approves of our plan.
Felsite:
Yet more iron ore. Magnetite this time. Good news- Lots of iron. Bad news- still no coal.
Moments later LIGNITE! We can begin steel production now, as soon as the damn mason/metalsmith gets his ass over to the smelter and builds it!

Malachite
On this day, the 19th, let it be known. We finally got some migrants, ya hear? First one I saw, the leader probably, was a mason! Thank Armok! We have our miners our mason, and even our farmers on the build squad trying to get the bridge to the farmlands done. Next was a very well rounded farmer. They brought a cow, which was welcome to the butchers shop. Which I just ordered built. It was a small migration, but a welcome one. In the mean time, I order a bridge to be built across the volcano top.
Limestone
We get some puppies. Woo.
I just realized. There is a caravan on the way, and I'm not ready. This got me thinking about money. And we haven't minted this year's gold or commemorative steel coins yet. We don't even have a vault! I have our miner find the tallest peak, dig down to 7 Urists below the valley, dig a shot path, which will be filled with floodgates to be opened, followed a snaking tunnel which will be filled with traps, then a rise up one Urist, to a magma moat, which when crossed, will lead you to a solid steel door. Once opened, you will find the vault.
More puppies.
Migrants- fish cleaner, and another one? WTF? The queen sent us the perfect pair the first time, and now two fish cleaners? We also got a highmaster leather worker and a cow, w/ a damn kitten.
Timber
The caravan has come. We have nothing to trade. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu........ I order the smiths to make golden mugs. But sometimes the stupidity of my race shocks me. Rather than make goblets to get booze, which me desperately they make more gold bars.
Moonstone
As winter draws closer, I realize the vault won't be complete until next summer. I order this year's coins done, and to have them placed where the vault will be.
Opal
Half into winter and still no coins. I'm owrried we might not get this years mint done..... Will look into this after... my na........ (At this point, a line drags off the page)
Sorry about that. I haven't slept all year. Anyways, it seems my entire crew is against coins. Sigh. We're in this for the queen, so why don't we make her feel welcome? "blah blah A Commune blah blah Economy" Some subjects.....
(And thus the year ended, Map: will come.
