Erk, you aren't having much luck there Nevyn, are you?

I haven't disappeared, just been rather busy. There will be another demand soon, don't worry (or feel safe).

It's been great seeing all the ways people set up their forts.

And breadbocks, completely understandable.

So Ledi's been training the cats into an army of disposable warbeasts?  Why did no-one think of this sooner?!
Hellcannon seemed to be constantly on the verge of death and Levergedon before my turn helped, but ultimately what killed it was Ledi's cat army.

So, is anyone else wondering why the Windcrested map is so... dead?  Nothing grows there. I cut down all my trees and shrooms and nothing has grown back in years, I cant even piss off the elves anymore (doesnt stop them from complaining by the way).

The caverns seem to just have so little water in them that there isnt any mud, and that even if you put it there nothing grows. Worldgen does that to some areas of underground, but why the above ground as well?

If I understand correctly, It is a problem with reclaiming, not the map.

The reclaim appears to remove cavern mud, which is something I didn't know...I'm not sure about trees above ground though, I will have to keep an eye on mine.

New Orders!

You're starting to dread that you will find a little note on your desk, and each day walk into your office watching for that piece of pig-tail fiber amongst other reports.

This time it is not a note you find, however, but the advisor himself waiting for you. He is not one for small talk, and launches straight into the business at hand.

"Her Majesty feels that traders are not as awed as they should be by our home here. She wishes that statues are placed either leading to or near the trading depot, so that all merchants will see some of our fine craftsmanship before the bartering begins. The minimum number I have been given is six, and Her Majesty has expressed her trust that you will pick the subject matter with the same tact and tastefulness that culminated in your being selected as expedition leader here."

You are nearly sure he's being ironic, but not sure enough to take insult. He nods to you and leaves.

Statues... well, at least there should be plenty of rock around.

Woo! Perfect for meeee.

We should get some harder orders soon. a 5 year old fort should be able to handle some srs challenges. Also I'd like it to be a challenge... :P Call me sadistic.

I'll take that into consideration, Tylui, but not all the forts are 5 years old yet. ;) Give it time... some demands are definitely going to be on the easy side, like the last set. If I gave all hard demands all the time I think I'd have people screaming for blood. XD

...I've come to the conclusion that I can't log my own properly *and* keep this updated in a reasonable time scale, so I'm going to drop my own logs and simply watch and grin.

I found something interesting - when I embarked I had a Queen on my civ list. Now it's a King. I suspect foul play!

Also... dragon. Erk.

Maybe you could make two demands at a time. Like an easy route and a hard route. Or something >_>

Why are you doing this. Stop reading my mind...

Before first order came in...
Me: Hmmm I think I will dig a hole to the caverns to put light down there cause I have all this AG Seed...
ORDER: Queen wants AG Garden...

Second Order
Me: I know, I will have a small 'village' on the surface of Dwarves who wanted to run a Wheatfarm like the humans, little wall for defense, living by themselves away from everyone else, dropping Bags of Flour down a Chute for the main Fortress to use for cooking. It will be great...
ORDER: Queen wants a Separate Bunker for Fort Survival...

Third Order
ME: You know what would look great, 'Statues' on the outside of this dome that I am building, and perhaps I will just carve out the center of the Spiral Staircases and put something in three while have people walk around in circles around it, maybe glasswindows to stop Gobs from being able to shoot down it...
ORDER: Queen wants Statues that Caravans pass...

STOP READING MY MIND!!!!

FINALLY Finished my First year... Again...
No Images yet not for a while, net too slow to upload for some reason...
Making sure that there is a Backup of this year and will now get into the second...

I hate making Logs, they take up too much time, I downright forgot to make not of anything interesting happening through winter, so might have missed something not so important...

Aha, dragon has been dealt with, now in my animal stockpile. I had to build a road so it could get to me. >.> Roasted a dog and then ran straight into my hallway of cage traps. I tried luring it down the mountain to the hallway with a selection of crappy statues, but it only knocked over one.

I wonder if the same dragon will turn up at all the forts...

Edit: Question, how far down are the caverns? I don't really want to break them yet, but I need more room for... stuff. Like an arena for my 30 or so captured goblins (Why hello thar, siege! Oo, a Jabberer for my zoo) to train my military. The lowest level I've dug so far is 124 by the number on the bottom right of the screen.

Lever 89 is the first with some cavern on it, so you got plenty more room to for stuff. The next levels all follow pretty quickyl by the way.

Havnt had any dragon yet, but im keeping my population low due to fps issues. Anyone know how many you need for a queen to show up?
