We're going to have a Traveller Campaign. We will probably use gametable and IRC or another type of group chat medium.
Sign up by drawing up a character. We will be using the Mongoose Traveller rules.
There is no SRD. Don't clutter this sign up thread by asking for one. If you need help finding a place to read the book, that will do fine. There IS an SRD. It is
here. You'll still want to be able to look through the book to see the career tables.
You can also use this thread to ask questions about the setting, if you like.
Most of all, use this thread to post up your characters and your availabilty.
EDIT: You may use any of the sourcebooks to build your character (Except Dilettante, which I don't think is out yet). This includes career books and the like. Just make sure you specify which books you used.
EDIT2: Battle Dress won't feature prominently, so I am house-ruling the skill 'Battle Dress' out of the game. If you somehow have Battle Dress on your sheet, replace it with a combat skill of equal level, or take Zero-G 1 and Vacc Suit 1 instead.
I am looking for 4-7 players altogether.
The year is 2468. It is September, and the Fifth Galactic War has broken out between the United Earth Parliament and the Imperial Colonies. The United Earth Parliament believes in a unified Galactic-Wide democracy. Unfortunately for them, many planets do not feel that they are fairly represented, and will not join the Parliament, preffering Independence. Galactic Wars started breaking out around a hundred years ago when the UEP decided to take the aggressive approach. Psions are generally allowed to exist in society, but there are countless regulations imposed upon them, effectively making the use of their powers illegal, except on some of the distant colonies. They are identified with the colour Blue, to match Earth, the first planet.
The Imperial Colonies are also building a Galactic Empire, but they do so in a different way. They are formed under a Monarchy. Below the King are his elected Senators. Tradition and honour are valued among these people. The Imperial Colonies also enjoy annexing planets. Citizens are of the highest value to the Imperial Colonies, but only people born on an official Imperial Colony planet are considered Citizens. Having your planet annexed by the IC does not make you a Citizen. The easiest way to become a Citizen is to join in the military service. Psions are mistrusted by the Imperial Colonies, and shuffled off either to prison camps or, for the fortunate, to military training centres. They are identified with Purple, the colour of royalty.
There are two other factions, as well, the Planetary Liberation Coalition and the Council of Independent Planets. The CIP acts as a United Nations where all planets not controlled by one of the two Empires meet. The IC and the UEP also get to send a delegate, but they each only get one, so as not to disrupt the proceedings. The CIP rarely engage in wars, and they rarely actually agree on anything, but they have occassionally shaped the face of the Galaxy. Independent Planets clustered in systems close to eachother often share naval patrol routes, calling upon the Independent Planet Defense Agreement when they are threatened by Imperialism. The PLC is a terrorist group who believe that all planets should be independent. They were very active in the Fourth Galactic War, over five years ago, but have quieted down since then. The PLC is identified with Red, and the CIP is identified with Green.
There are colours mentioned with each of the four largest factions in the Galaxy. These colours are most notable on Marine armour and Military Naval vessels, wherein the ships are usually painted to match the official colour of the faction (except for the PLC, who often have black scout ships).
Some of the planets we know and love in our solar system:
Mercury: Is completely covered in cities now. The upper level is very hot, and the lower level is very cold. The wealthy live in the middle level, which is typically very comfortable, whereas the top and bottom are inhabited by the desperate and the poor. The planet is famed for its dedication to research, and is known as the technological hub of the UEP.
Pluto: Has been transformed into a University Campus called The University of Pluto. This is the most prestigious university in the UEP. Many of its graduates go straight to Mercury, though most scatter across the Galaxy and become the most famous scientists among every planet they reside in.
Mars: Is an industrial hotbed. Many starships, including yours, most likely, are from here.
The Moon: Is covered in gardens. It is one of the most pleasant places in the Sol System.
