Getting out of the lurker's village (they've got a really nice hotel, you have to admit) to say that I want to get in the next tournament, with the original setting but a slight modification. The modification will be posted after I get my hands on the new equipment/skill/etc. cost, if there are any changes.

Well, the risk paid off.  Now I just have to figure out the best way to spend my 340 points to survive an archer and leave myself viable for a fight against what will be an extremely skilled and decked out melee fighter in the final.

Awesome, I won!  I can't say that I expected to get this far.  I went with a ranged fighter because nobody much seemed interested and I wanted to see how it would work.  I'll post my build in a couple of hours, I need to get some dinner first.

Platinum would be marginally better.  Slade would be the best, but its pretty cost-prohibitive.  Silver is good enough.

Proficient->Adept shield use

I think that leaves 10 points. I have to say I'm less worried about this fight than the last one, if I knock over DD I've basically won, and even if I don't I have a decent chance. Still it could go either way, I'm only less worried because I thought I'd lose the last one.

I think NoQuarter's purchase of a shield and some skill will probably serve him well here, but if I'm lucky I'll advance.

Crossbow skill from Great (11) to Master (12) = 60
Dodge from Competent (3) to Talented (6) = 20+25+30=75
Bronze Breastplate = 2*20=40
leather cap = 0.5 * 10 = 5

60+75+40+5+5+16+42= 243

I had 240 points + (9 left over * 2) = 258 to spend

258-243 = 15 left over

From the wiki it looks like I can wear two caps and my current bronze helmet.
It also looks like I can wear two sets of gauntlets my old copper ones + the new bronze ones.
And it looks like I can wear the Bronze Breastplate over the Bronze mail shirt.

Please let me know if any of this is wrong.

It isn't entirely clear from the wiki if armor user will help me attack faster or only move faster... 'movement' seems like it includes taking actions, but I am not 100% sure and I haven't had time to run some tests to see.

Piercing/Slashing weapons are ineffective against materials or the same strength or higher. Therefore, slade armor = DD stopper.

The cost of Slade gear is incredibly prohibitive, though. And it's heavy as fuck. I don't know if allowing him to get more than one shot in is a good idea.

True, although he uses adamantine. Therefore, it stands to think adamantine armor would help, if you guessed the right body part(s). A cap, gauntlets, and boots covers a good bit. If you had a mail shirt, your chances would be quite high.
