Exhibition Match - Gladiators 1-8

For those with more points, I deducted from their most expensive skill until they had the right number.  The two dwarves without skills were left skill-less.

Eclipse suddenmoon leads the way, deftly slipping in and slicing off Nil Omshitrodum's weapon hand! Nil has been disarmed in every sense of the word.

LordSlowPoke makes a cowardly stab at Huxley's jewels!  Huxley nimbly dodges aside, a sudden fire building in his eyes. Relentlessly, Huxley knocks the kobold to the ground and repeatedly stabs at SlowPoke's tic-tacs.  The bronze leggings protect him for now, but Huxley merely screams obscenities and keeps stabbing away at him.

Nil's armor holds of the precise strikes of the elf as Eclipse patiently circles and looks for an opening.  Suddenly, Susmat curls up around Nil, teeth looking for skin but not able to find any in the impressive armor.  Annoyed by this interference, Eclipse lunges as Susmat rears for another bite and the serpent man is stabbed neatly in the mouth. Nil, Eclipse, and a late-to-the-fight Urist all begin pounding on Susmat.  The snake man curls up inside his armor, his body protected by his steel plate.  However, Susmat cannot pull in his unprotected arms which are quickly shattered by Urist's mace.

Ironblade and The wild card, having wandered into the arena by pulling an unmarked lever, wisely avoid the action and start a slap fight in the corner.

LordSlowPoke, still hoping for a litter of his own some day, gamely keeps rising and manages to land a few nicks on Huxley.  However, the human is beyond any pain, flecks of saliva flying as he keeps the kobold on the ground and pounds relentlessly at the leggings that he can't quite get through.  Finally his blood-lust overcomes desire for revenge and he neatly opens the kobold's throat.  First kill - Huxley!  Looking for other prey, he quickly charges the two dwarfs rolling in the corner, sending them scurrying with a sudden roar.

Frustrated by his inability to get through Susmat's steel breastplate, Eclipse turns to Nil and Urist and begins to pick them apart with careful strikes. Urist is the first to fall, a sudden stab to the back piercing his kidney. The elf twists his blade in the wound to finish the human off.  Nil rushes in, hoping to bash the elf's head in with a shield blow while Eclipse has his weapon stuck.  Sadly, his heavy armor and bleeding slowed the charge to a bare crawl.  Eclipse easily moves aside, taking the second arm to complete what was started at the beginning of the match.  Broken and defeated, Nil falls to the arena floor to let his life bleed away.

Hopeful at the sudden silence, Susmat uncoils from his armor, only to have his tail grabbed up and cleanly removed by the lurking elf.

Tired of toying with the two unarmed dwarfs, Huxley holds out his two-handed great sword, ducks and twirls.  The blade slices effortlessly through unprotected flesh, slicing them both in half and sending part of them in four directions.  Tired but still enraged and steaming, the human berserker fails to notice the stealthy elf knock him over from behind.  Repeating his earlier blows in grim mockery, Eclipse stabs the human in the kidney and the mouth, before aiming a blow that tears through Huxley's iron mail and leaves his heart visibly broken through a huge gash.  The berserker makes one final effort to stand, the elf desperately trying to finish him off.  However, the effort proves too much for him and he falls on the elf's rising blade, peace on his features at last as his head leaves his body.

Don't feel bad.  Eclipse disarmed all of his first four kills, including the unexpected step of stabbing the serpent man in the mouth.  I didn't even think of that one. DF is full of surprises!

Exhibition Match - Gladiators 9-16

This time I dropped equipment down a level for people who spent too many points.

Pisano, the first ranged fighter, opens with a shot to Karkat's leg.  Karkat snarls and charges, leaving Pisano no time for another shot.  The troll's massive axe chops away the crossbow and effortlessly butchers the offending dwarf into little bits.  However, this distraction prevents him from noticing Dancing Dagger sneaking up on him. The kobold leaps atop the massive troll and begins to crawl over his body, inflicting punishing gashes with his adamantine weapon.

Sun Force force knocks over breadbocks, doing little damage on the hard-shelled insect with his mace with repeated blows.  Duriel rushes forward but a lucky blow from the elf caves her head in.  The human woman dies without a single swing.  Jack rushes to try his luck, but the mace proves more effective on the softer kobold and swiftly smashes two of his bones.  Jack passes out from the pain.

Breadbocks and moxy trade blows with their weapons. Breadbocks takes several stinging blows to the abdomen before managing to knock the scourge out of moxy's hands.  However, the cumulative effects of all the minor blows has added out and breadbocks passes out, exhausted.

Dancing dagger finishes with Karkat, the troll bleeding out from his gaping wounds.  Pausing to finish off an unconscious Jack, the Kobold is surprised by Sun Force smashing in his leg.  Delirious from the first shot, the second kobold knife nut proves no more effective then the first and is knocked out.

Unwounded but winded, Sun Force begins the slow, bloody process of smashing in the crippled and helpless competitors.

Winner: Sun Force the dogged! Beware of elves!
