How much does it cost to purchase more arrows?

I'm not going to allow arrow purchases for the tournament. I very much doubt you'd be able to use all 35 before you or your opponent was killed. I don't think the ranged users in the SA tourny came close to running out.

Anyways, do you get to keep skills you get in battle, like getting the dodger skill, even though you didn't buy it?

No, it would be too hard to keep track of, and it would probably benefit fighters more who took longer to kill their opponent, which wouldn't be fair.

And we get a recharge with the same material after each round right?

In August of 1943, while serving as skipper of the PT-109, John F. Kennedy's boat was ripped in two by the Japanese destroyer Amagiri. Kennedy and his crew were tossed into the water and surrounded by flames. Kennedy, despite a chronic back injury and an even more chronic boning-induced-exhaustion, managed to swim four hours to safety while towing an injured crewman by the life jacket strap with his teeth. His fucking teeth!

It wouldn't be hard to keep track of. Just push (v)iew at the end of the match. And it would be fair, because the longer fights give the crowd more excitement.

Yeah, but it would be unfair. Would it be unfair that your gladiator struck down his enemy in 1 hit, gaining no skills, while my kobold toyed around with my opponent for few minutes and gained legendary knife user and legendary dodger? It would make the whole tournament too unbalanced, imho.

EDIT: Gannon, your results: Murderphant won with out getting hit. Your set-up is very hit or miss. With 16 people I'd say you have around 1/8 of winning, more or less. The logic behind that is: You need to win 4 matches to win total, but only lose 1 to lose overall, therefore, 1/4 base chance. Your set-up has two possibilities, with very little to consider inbetween, Hit first and win, or miss first and lose. That translates to a 1/2 chance of winning the round. 1/4 * 1/2 = 1/8. Will run Yugi now.
You seem to forget that we get more points after every round. The people who buy strong weapon from the start have an advantage if they survive the first round, they have more points because they don't have to sell their equips (selling equipment only gives half of the points back). So those guys who are completely dressed in leather armor won't handle so many rounds, as they will sell their armour at one point or another, but that makes them 'lose' points.

I couldn't agree more.

Andto the point of the difficulty of keeping track of skills earned in battle, keep in mind that I'm going to have to run DOZENS of matches. What if I forgot to look just once? Would it be right of me to rerun the match, when the outcome could be different? Combat logs are saved, experience gains are not.

The points are the rewards for winning a round, not combat skills earned through experience.

OK. Mipe, not all people want to risk the 50-50 chance, and would rather take the chance of having worse equips at the end.

I could. Will update. Also, glad to see someone finally got the lowercase-ness right.

In a match against my murderpahant, your bloo died without touching him. Sorry dude, but my money in one the human axeman right now.

Widdles the Kobold is in!

And is promptly replaced by Snyper the Gremlin.

Steel Crossbow & Bolts ( 104 )
Talented Archer ( 63 )
Expert Crossbowman ( 180 )
Adequate Dodger ( 12 )

359 total, so 1 point left. This might work... I think.

Eep. Having some tests done with my character, it's basically:

1. I hit my enemy in the leg and my dagger gets stuck there, enemy pummels my kobold to submission. Change leg to arm that doesn't have anything equipped or something else 'not so painful'.

2. I behead my enemy or something else and the whole combat log is few lines long.

3. Somewhat painful stuff, like against Mr Hacker (combat log in the link):
http://pastebin.com/BPGma8ML

I'm generally suprised how short the matches are. It's just probably because I have a kobold that can't dodge and has no armour <_<
