I'm pretty sure that the larger creature will always attempt to charge the smaller one, I think that's just how DF combat AI works.

People that made little dudes need to keep this in mind. If they can't dodge/counterstrike on the charge, they are gonna keep getting rammed into until they die. Dodging seems to be the most improtant skill in size mismatch fights.

Yeah, when I was testing my kobold he kept getting rammed ( he had adept dodging, but it didn't help him a lot ) and then when he fell, he died. So, I decided that if I make a gremlin, and give him a bow, his size won't really matter, because if they get close enough to hit him he's dead anyways.

...I'm basically relying on my first two shots to be either lethal or debilitating. It sounds like a bad idea, but whatever, I'll see how it goes in the actual tournament.

i'm hoping i don't get matched with a minotaur or someone with a weapon that easily pierces armour.
other than that i hope my bloody silver warhammer will work as desired.

I did a bit of testing with mine, and ended up getting slaughtered. Only fight I 'won' was against the gremlin archer, and I bled to death shortly afterwards. I probably should make another character in order to have at least a chance, but I think I'll save that for another tournament.

Updated my guy slightly (including a name change since he uses maces and not hammers).

Not sure how well he'll do but...eh. We'll see.

Can we get a list of who will be fighting in the battle royale for 16th?

Also, Elephant breeding pairs FTW.

We are only 6 players short of 32, hopefully we can get fill those spots. If not, everyone below nbonaparte on the list will have to fight for the 16th spot.

...I'm not complaining or anything, but if we're this close to 32 when the deadline is hit, could we maybe make a few duplicate entries/have Badfuzzy make a few "AI" fighters? It would be a waste to kill off 10 of our player named fighters when the problem could be solved by adding 6 more.

Roll up some random dudes. :)

There are 13 races, roll one, maybe with some weighting, then you know how many points you have.  It would be pretty easy to write up some charts with a few smarts in them, like you don't buy a skill for a weapon you can't use or things of that ilk.    Hmm maybe I'll whip something up, but not before we need the 6 extra characters.

anyway, here is my build:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

edit: updated build a bit if it isn't too late.

You won't need hammer. Spend it on armor, or save it. You get 35 bolts to match.

Hm, yeah, when it comes to crossbow-ing, you're depending on killing your opponent before he closes to melee range.

With bowing definitely, but crossbows aren't too bad in hand to hand, though if you neglect your ranged combat too much you're just a weaker character.

Anyway I decided to make a new character which should be a fair bit stronger. I'll call them my main character but bring in my kobold if the tournament gets short of players.

Name- Strange wolf
Race- Werewolf
Equipment:
-2 handed bronze sword
-Oaken shield
Skills:
-Novice fighter
-Skilled swordswolf
-Competent shield user

Leaving 2 points
