Also, The place shouyld be an evil desert with a river and ocean. Imagine what that would look like. A laboratory with glass that has science ingravings like pc's(glass with shell decorations on them. It works. I have done that.) Also we might be able to make the dwarfilus that will send our scientists into the depths(Of what ever. magma or water, you have it.)

An ocean-desert fort would have its merits, but our goal is Science, not appearances.

A seaside fort would have the options of trying to catch mermaids, sea serpents et.c. for experiments. Plus capturing them would require an extremely complicated trap with little to no bonus for the fort (i.e. incredibly dorfy). A terrifying place would also have the option of catching the undead for even more experiments (like 'how many times can a zombie survive being impaled by a spike?').

True. How many bones can you get from an undead whale?

We should have a terrifying, sanded, fluxed, coastal swamp.

It be cool if we could somehow have a shark tank if we did an ocean fortress.
But a swamp is best overall.

a terrifying, sanded, fluxed, coastal swamp.

That would be awesome.
I suck at dealing with aquifers, though.

So we got monsters above, monsters below, dwarves in the middle and a party in the dining hall. Sounds good to me.
If all else fails, remember one thing:  kittens are delicious, nutritious little goblin-baiters, cavern explorers, and ambush-finders.

I am changing my vote to terrifying ocean/savage desert fort. Can giant desert scorpions swim? Does venom affect the undead? All that and more to come.

Added.
Yeah, this still isn't dead, just... postponed. You know, procrastination and all that. I'll eventually get to it. It's not like the thread will 404 like elsewhere.

Wait.... I'm not signed up! Gah! Can I have a spot? And since I proposed the idea of a swamp, an evil swamp, a coastal swamp, and a terrifying, sanded, fluxed, coastal swamp first, can I have the slot where I would have been if I'd written "sign me up" on my first post?
