I hope steampower gets implemented some day.
That way we are going to have steampunk dwarves. xD

Sounds possible, you just need scripts for calculating the pressure, perhaps breaking things around it if it's too weak for the pressure, push in the directions the air flows when released, how the pressure affects water flow into a pressurized chamber, and so on. I'm all for it.

Yeah, because CPU is not already sufficiently raped yet. :P

I am purely speculating at this point.  This may not actually work.

Build a pit to chuck the goblin into with a floodgate at the bottom, grate partway up to hold the goblin.  Underneath the floodgate is a cistern fed via many pumps to pressurize the water being pumped into it.  Turn on all the pumps.  Open the floodgate.  Is water pressure implemented in a way that the escaping water would fling the goblin high into the air at this point?  It's no goblin steam cannon, but you could have a goblin-shooting geyser?

I don't understand, though that is about right with anything DF related.

Math wise I don't see how this can be any more crunchy than river flow already is.

No. Pumps only make water go up to their level, no higher, IIRC.

I don't think water can push things up z levels yet either.

Momentum isn't simulated properly in DF yet. Even pressure simulation is incomplete... atm it's simulated with respect to how much fluid ends up where, but not with regard to what it does on the way. As it is, the 'flow' property (responsible for driving waterwheels and pushing objects) depends entirely on depth gradients and 'pressure' can therefore do the opposite of what you expect it to do.

On the other hand, even dodgy physics can be used for pleasing effects once you wrap your head around it... we may just have to re-learn everything in a future release.
