I'm trying to give kittens a slade shell but I suck at modding. Can you people help?

I don't mod myself but I suspect looking at there skin and skin makeup would be a good start. you might have to make a new skin material.

Slade is useless. You can't use it for anything.  Its really heavy, and kittens would be slow. They would still be vulnerable to everything. Shells can't protect the head and other body parts. It just adds another place to hit. See, no reasons to have slade shells.

add a lot of organs. it adds a lesser chance of hitting precious ones. don't add organs like hearts and brains though, and no extra limbs.

More organs means more healthy!

Also you could make its flesh Slade cant you? that would cover it, that way nothing will be able to cut it, but they can still be butchered.

look up the element men in your raws for the tags for material flesh

Why not adamantite so that it's actually able to support its own weight?

Can't you also damn rivers by causing a wall to drop into the water via cave-in?
I figured you could always damn a river by channeling out it out all the way into Hell.

I don't think the weight of a creature affects it's movement at all at this point - just the items it carries, whether it's standing or prone, and maybe what sort of wounds it has.

Besides, if that was a problem, modding in new inorganic creatures could get tricky - not to mention problems it could cause for randomly generated creatures if it wasn't handled properly.

Slade's heavy, but adamantine isn't; armor's all it's useful for now, anyways. *NOTE: I stated writing before Frog posted*

Athough, if the kitten had teeth or claws made of slade...

Add [FIREIMMUNE] to get fire snakes, [FLY] to finally catch all those pesky sparrows, and maybe [MAGICFIREBREATH] just for the heck of it...

I believe I may very well accept this challange.

Now, should I add [BUTCHERABLE:NONSTANDARD] to ensure a catslplosion, or "forget" to add [CHILD:1] to prevent one?  Both?

Adamantine's still good for cutting weapons, iirc. It's bashing weapons and bolts/arrows you don't want to use it for now.

For my entertainement Science I have been seeing in which ways I can 'improve' cats. My last abomination just ripped apart a cyclops.

Spoiler: I added this (click to show/hide)

Of course I could just make them rediculously large but that would kind of defeat the point.

Edit: forgot temperature values.

we recently caused a cat to explode with an exceptionally ill-timed ballista shot. it made us so sad, we had to use dfhack to resurrect it - which is something we normally wouldn't even consider doing for a dwarf.

is changing the raws to give cats hundreds of extra organs still the best way to go about making them invincible a decade later?

Grimlocke's solution would work best/be easiest there, as it applies to all materials including the organs, but you can also give them an interaction/syndrome to heal them, and remove their general_poison creature class to prevent most other syndromes affecting them.
