Contrary to Lord Shonus' words, this was almost EXACTLY what happened with the Derros in my campaign. Started the encounter too late at night, didn't get to go to bed until 2 in the morning, several party members almost died and it was only as easy as it was because the AI was dumb as bricks with Touch of Idiocy cast on them.

No, the DM was stupid, and gave creatures with STR penalties weapons that needed STR checks to use.

several party members almost died
Protip: Never shoot 120 feet of lightning at a goblin if you can only see 60 feet away from you. You might just explode.

Protip: To defeat the party, let them shoot you until they die.

Yes. The party managed to kill 9 of 12 1hd goblins with only near-fatal injuries.

To be fair, the agreed-upon tactic was "walk into the trap and take it like a goddamn boss." Which we did.

What happened?? Did I die?

Yes. The party managed to kill 9 of 12 1hd goblins with only near-fatal injuries.
???

Noone died on our side, but we managed to set off fairly large explosions by hitting the magazines of the siege weapons that the goblins were using on us.  That kinda nearly killed Eafoth.  Cerrad just evaded everything.(except for the 2d6 con damage DC20 fort save poison clouds they were lobbing at us with the siege engines...)

Duckbunnies aren't that stupid, considering their fluff. You weren't there, by the way. Only characters with players were.

I don't think it's hillarious. I find it adorable. The slithertoad, on the other hand...
