I think something has to be two sizes larger than you to be able to ride it, but I could be wrong. I'd imagine Naren would take the gold dragon, though. I have a mount anyway, the ever-forgotten light warhorse, Jorje.

man is large medium size, horse is large size, one size category different.

I think the only requirement for riding is that there be somewhere for you hang on and that the mount be strong enough to bear your weight.

Rules may be different for flying mounts, can't be bothered to look it up right now...

Wait, you guys actually got into combat during that session? Huh. I didn't know (or even suspect) that.

Also, in case it ever becomes an issue, Cerrad is able to insta-teleport 50 feet, so if you all need to make a hasty getaway while I guard the exit, all of you can get on the eagles and run your asses off, and then someone can do a low flyby and I'll just hop (as in, shadow hop) on.

And why would you throw away mah bwankie? I use that for being a totally prepared hitchhiker! (it substitutes for a towel, which isn't in the SRD)

The eagle you and E were riding got poisoned, reducing it's STR, and placing it's load one pound too high to fly.

did I live? This sounds like an interesting turn of events and not living would kind of ruin it for me.

Nobody's quite dead, but we're getting injured quite easily and our eagles are failing their fortitude saves faster than they can plummet to the earth. We're apparently being attacked by robo-birds that shoot magic missiles and such from their wingtips. Our current tactic is 'oh crap! run!', and I hope it works.

Technically, I killed one that had already been damaged using Flame Strike, but I only have one more of those.

Would jumping on one be a climb check or a grapple attack?

I assumed that that was just flavor text for that bird biting the dust.

@Shonus - Is that bird dead? And if it's metal parts have fire immunity, remember that half of that 35 damage was divine-based.

One bird has been destroyed. E took it most of the way down, then Dharsus punched it to death. One other one is now effectively out of the fight becuase of telekenesis, and two or three others are badly damaged.

Figured I should put up a recap so that RoboCorn (and to a lesser extent Shouruke) know what's going on if they show up in mid-battle next game.

The party rested for two days to ressurect the fallen. When the sole survior of the paladin group pursuing the vampire survived and reported a deadly ambush, the party decided to pursue. When looking for mounts, they met a very enthusiastic exotic animal merchant, who sold them five War Eagles for a tidy sum of money. Naren also bought two dragon eggs, one gold and one silver, and bombing gear for hisher eagle. After they took off, their only interruption for the first day was a brief thinly veiled threat conversation with a massive gold dragon regarding the eggs in Naren's possession. Midway through the second day, they were attacked by mechanical adversaries resembling large ravens. The party has learned that the enemies have the following capabilities:

AC 22
Ability to cast Magic Missile as a level 3 wizard/sorcerer (limits unknown)
Breath Weapon 2d4 sonic, 2d4 round deafen. 30-ft cone (limits unknown)
Armed with a rapid-fire weapon that sprays an area with blowgun needles. Targets that fail a [DC unknown] reflex save are hit by 2d4 needles. Each needle does one damage and increases save DC of whatever poison is used by 1. The needles are poisoned with a strenth-reducing poison.
