Cost is based on whether or not it is a class skill for your current class.
Maximum ranks is based upon whether or not it is a class skill for any of your classes.

I'll defer to that, the parts I read only mentioned the "maximum ranks" bit... where does it say about the cost at each individual level?

It is a little ambiguous with a reference to a 'character's' class skill list, but the intent seems clear...

I finished my character sheet and I have nearly 3000 gold left, can I buy one of the minor magic items from the back of the DM guide?

Yeah, the problem is that they don't specify what constitutes "your character's class list". Looking at the character sheets on Mythweavers or Tangled Web (which is, incidentally, where my character sheet can be found) would imply that class skills from previously used classes are still class skills. The SRD's line about
Quote from: the SRD
Regardless of whether a skill is purchased as a class skill or a cross-class skill,
is ambiguous; it could be implying that a skill is only a class skill for your current class when purchasing skills, or it could be allowing for cross-class skills that were purchased before multiclassing and giving yourself a bigger pool of in-class skills.

So confuzzling.

The guys over at WotC can be so annoying when they forget about the intricasies of multiclassing. The "starts play with" phrase is similar to this; depending on semantics, it could mean one of two completely different things.

With <3000? Sure, although there's very little that cheap.

Edit: Please send me your sheets as they're finished. It will make thing easier.

Did they mean a minor artefact from the back of the DMG?

What about brutal throw from the complete adventurer? It is the reverse of weapon finesse, allowing thrown weapons to use your strength bonus for attack rolls...

Not an artifact, a Minor Wondrous Item like some +1 stat hat or the cheapest bag of holding. I don't think shonus would let me start the game with a book of exalted deeds or a sphere of annihilation

I think anything you can find in Core (or on the SRD) is fine you guys.

Also, by "send", do you mean you want us all to PM our sheets to you so you have a list? Or does just posting a link in the forums work?

I think we've basically got room for anyone who shows up.

Also, this is pretty fun.
