RAM, something you may want to consider on your druid.  Per the stormwrack rules, you have the option to apply your woodland stride ability to difficult aquatic terrain, thick kelp, sargassum, coral, and the like, instead of difficult forest terrain.  It's your choice though, I wasn't sure if you knew about that rule.

Did you add a little navy hat to your avatar?

Who, me?  I've always had a bowler hat.  It's my thing.

You just assumed there was a slightly rounded chunk of the top of my head missing.  Don't worry, it's a common mistake.

Also, something I've been confused about.

A monster with a CR of x is a challenge for a party of four level x characters, right?  But NPCs built like PCs have a challenge rating of their level.  How is one level 10 human fighter the equivalent of four level 10 PCs?  Is there something I'm missing when it comes to building NPCs, or is that just a point where the rules sort of break down?

You should be able to do from 4 to 7 encounter before needing rest, at least for encounters your level. If you need 4 lvl 10th character to do a lvl 10 encounter the death rate would be immense.

Yup it is true, one is easy but six will kill them. Six in a row but one at a time is just right.

Can anyone explain to me why the octopus has +2 grapple? If it were using Dex instead of Str it would be +0.
Improved grab= +4? I can't find that anywhere...
Unlisted +4 racial bonus? Unlisted is a bit odd...

Yeah, people always complain when I say that CR=level, while its true that a character should have better gear than a N.P.C. of the same level it is still annoying. But yes, CR = party level is meant to be a bit of fun. CR = level +2 is tough. CR = level +3 = dangerous. CR = level +4+ = party ought to run away, but heroes will be heroes... Though these are just guidelines, if the party has no fort saves then a medusa can wipe them blindfolded, well, maybe not blindfolded... While a party of healing clerics with access to area healing can slaughter a pack of skeletons. And the CR assignments are not always perfect...

I'm going to have you guys pick your gear now.  I'm getting a good handle on how I want to do things and it would be much easier if you picked beforehand.

The 9000 gold is whatever you had on hand plus your officer commission.  The armory has a well-stocked supply of magic and masterwork gear, more mundane stuff like rope and provisions can be abstracted out via your boat's cargo supply.

List what you want and I'll give it the go-ahead if it's good.  You're fresh officers straight out of the academy, they're not going to trust their really good stuff to you yet, but you can probably get some decent weapons and armor, plus potions, scrolls, and the stuff to get you going.

That is odd, I guess at some point some one decided that -2 looked wrong and thought that it was suppose to be +2 or something odd like that.

Have you decided which people are playing, or should we all chose our gear?

EDIT: I should at least know if I should pick gear for my bard or my fighter.

You really can both sig it.
But... That would break the laws of sigging! We can't have everyone running around with the same quotes. IT MAKES THEM UNFUNNY FASTER!
